Cruiserkenn Posted June 26, 2012 #51 Share Posted June 26, 2012 I have never seen an actual pillow menu but the steward told us they have feather pillows as well as neck pillows if we should need them. Thanks so much!
highheel girl Posted June 26, 2012 #52 Share Posted June 26, 2012 I will appreciate anyone finding out if it is possible to have that first night comp on another evening. Thanks in advance They are pretty firm on Embarkation night only. :)
highheel girl Posted June 26, 2012 #53 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Is a tip encluded in the suite perk of the speciality restaurants on embarcation day? No.
GoochDSA Posted June 26, 2012 #54 Share Posted June 26, 2012 They are pretty firm on Embarkation night only. :) Well that leaves a tough choice. Take advantage of the included specialty restaurant on embarkation night or meet our TD waitstaff? Hmmm.....

gcjstri Posted June 26, 2012 #57 Share Posted June 26, 2012 I would leave a cash tip, i am pretty sure they would like that better.

Perhaps we will take advantage of the included specialty and then stop by the dining room to say "hi" if it's not too late. We have a lot of time to figure that one out. spingal Posted June 26, 2012 #60 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Certainly on the Grand on 2nd June (1 day after the perk was added) they knew all about it. There was a letter in my suite telling me of it. Went to Crown Grill the first night, asked me for my card to charge the supplement (I didnt say anything at this point) and within seconds he came back and said 'as you are in a suite there is no charge for the first night'. Yes, 1 of the MDR's is open until 1PM on embarkation day. Sounds like your experience was the exception. Glad to hear that the folks on the Grand got the news!! Arizona cruisers Posted June 26, 2012 #61 Share Posted June 26, 2012 I haven't heard of that one but we get the same perk when we use our AMEX platinum card and it has to be used the first night also. Wonder if they will allow us to come another night? - probably not Did it just start? I also have a question about the Amex Platinimum card. We did not book the cruise through Amex but with Princess directly. We did use our Amex Platinum for the deposit and for the onboard charges, and will pay the final balance with this card. Will that give us the perk of Crown Grill or Sabatini's? We are new to Princess and would love this! Thanks in advance for any insight here. IECalCruiser Posted June 26, 2012 #62 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Do you just add an extra tip to your card or leave cash?It is my understanding that any tip added to your cruise card goes into the tip pool and not directly to your servers. If you want the tip to go to your servers directly you need to leave a cash tip. I read a tipping guide on CC that stated that Specialty dining staff are included in the tip pool and no additional tip is required. If you want to tip for outstanding service the recommendation was $5/person.

celestialcruiser Posted June 27, 2012 #67 Share Posted June 27, 2012 The Princess Cruise Vacation Planner replied back to me that there are no AmEx benefits available for my sailing. Wonder why that particular sailing wouldn't offer anything? Because it's popular?

celestialcruiser Posted June 27, 2012 #69 Share Posted June 27, 2012 I went to the AmEx site like I was going to book it and it does show benefits available. I am going to call them again as I don't have any faith in the Cruise Planner from previous conversations with him.
Rare crusinbanjo Posted June 27, 2012 #70 Share Posted June 27, 2012 Hello, everyone I just returned from the Golden yesterday. We were in a suite. No mention of comp cover charge for the Crown Grill or Sabatini's on embarkation day. Must be VERY new. B On the PDF that princess sent us it says "Complimentary cover charge(s) for one of the alternative restaurants on embarkation evening (June 2012)" Does that mean it starts in June, or only valid for the month of June? nancycoop1 Posted June 27, 2012 #73 Share Posted June 27, 2012 I have actually been told by Princess that they are not allowed to call us with specials, or give us additional benefits. It is to our advantage to book thru a travel agent. We have always gotten a better price with a TA than is showing on the Princess web site. caribill Posted June 27, 2012 #74 Share Posted June 27, 2012 NO, you are not correct. Highheel girl is correct that it is a new perk for full suites. People without AMEX-plat have received it It is also a perk for AMEX-plat cardholders who use their card to book the cruise We are both correct. Highheel girl responded to the person who posted about AMEX and said that it was only for those in suites. I indicated it has been a long time benefit for AMEX platinum holders no matter what type cabin they were in.
California 6 Posted June 28, 2012 #75 Share Posted June 28, 2012 I love CC!! Just last week I called my TA and told her about the Amex Plat benefits which she never heard of. I had read about it here on CC. We are a family of 9 traveling with two full suites and 3 interior cabins. We now receive $300 OBC for each suite (instead of $100), each of the 5 cabins receives a bottle of champagne, and all of us get the free specialty restaurant perk. It pays to read CC!:)
