Sandielle Posted June 2, 2012 #26 Share Posted June 2, 2012 We cruised the northern end of Fraser Island when Norwegian Star was operating. Came in quite close to it as well. Did you see much of Fraser island, David? If you ever get a chance to visit, it is beautiful - it's the only place in the world where rainforests are found growing on sand dunes and it's World Heritage listed. The streams are crystal clear because the beds are all sand. (I wouldn't camp there because there are dingoes, however a day trip by four wheel drive bus is great.) For anyone who may be interested. ..I should have said you can do this tour from Hervey Bay or the Sunshine Coast. We did it from Rainbow Beach and were picked up by the 4-wheel drive bus which came from the Sunshine Coast, picking up passengers as required. Excellent tour - we were driven through the rainforest and past camping grounds and had time to walk in the rainforest as well as lunch at one of the resorts. The_Big_M Posted June 2, 2012 #30 Share Posted June 2, 2012 Oh, I agree - I was just stating what I think is the reason they are doing it. I guess they should advertise it as a cruise to Jervis Bay and back. Then people would expect it to berth at Jervis Bay and be unhappy they couldn't get off. It's pretty much as accurate as it can be, without being a long description that people would shorten anyway! You are cruising somewhere, it's just not continual, but then no cruises are. Tigerman00 Posted June 3, 2012 #32 Share Posted June 3, 2012 did you go across at inskip and then up the beach or on the road ? Just got off the Pearl, after all the bad I have said about P&O I was impressed, yes its old but the food and entertainment was great, As for the Commodore he speaks with his nose up his A^%%^,, lol .. Very poor communication, he came on and said about 7.00pm that all was well and we would be leaving, I looked over the rail and they were tying up and putting down the gangplank. If Sydney ports had it a 6.00am sail out, why did he not let people know!!! .. As for the Casino, it was open as soon as we left the dock the first time and was open the whole time we were tied up at Sydney.. Ken One other thing, on the last night at 10.30 pm they had jam session with all the guest and on board singers, well this was the best thing I have ever seen ... WOW ,, finished at 12.20am !, eve Zoltina sang a few songs... and not to be missed if you get a chance is a guy called Hayden Smith, WOWWOWOWOW. It would have been good if they did that more often during the cruise, especially when the shows were so average - much preferred the ones on the Sun last year. The Atrium isn't the best for watching shows, but the atmosphere was fantastic, and some of the singers were quite good. Listening to Alun, the ACD singing Whitney Houston, however was probably the lowlight.
Kiwi_cruiser Posted June 8, 2012 #36 Share Posted June 8, 2012 The Qld home-porters go to Hervey Bay. (They do have to cruise to get there and back. :D :D :D) At lest when you do a short 3 day cruise from Auckland you cruise to an island instead of a bay :D
