How many points to free drink card

Recommended Posts

Wow I am surprised by that.............I thought you needed 1500 points to earn a drinks on us card no matter what the length of the cruise was.

I was on the 3 day Imagination cruise in October and I had one friend who got the Drink on us card after she got 1500 points I know this because I had another friend who got about 1400 and she didn't receive it.

Has it changed recently

Sometimes when I get to 1500 points they bring me my card and sometimes I have to go to the Casino cage to get it. I'm glad for the people that are on shorter cruises that they have started offering this promotion. However, as slow as they have gotten at bringing drinks I think I'm just going to play my $20, cash out my winnings and go buy my own drink.

We were on the Imagination Memorial Day weekend (two weeks ago), and it was 600 points for the 3-day cruise. In October when we were on the Sensation 3-day cruise, it was 1500 points, so it must be a recent decision. It really does make sense to make the requirement smaller since you don't have as many days, especially considering both of those cruises you're docked in Nassau overnight.

Well, that is good news! Getting to 1500 pts in a short amount of time isn't easy (or cheap if you aren't lucky!). We are on a 4 day in July and I hope it's 600.

Also, just tossing out information...but if after ANY cruise you have 5000 points, call them and you "should" get (used to get at least) a "Drinks on Us" card when you walk in the door. I had 6200 in Jan and they say they will have a "Drinks On Us" card waiting for me when I arrive. (theoretically!!!)

it isnt easy on a longer cruise either.

I was amazed at the amount of money my dad spent on our cruise and he was no where near the 1500 points

How are the points accumlated? I don't gamble much at all so I'm just curious. Is it based on number of plays, dollars spent or what?

its on money spent -- i think we got one point for every $2.50 spent.

on our 4 day cruise on the Ecstacy in April the DOU card was at 1000 points, 800 points got a $10 credit.

Sooo...... Am I correct in saying that you need to bet $600 to get a Drinks on Us card? Husband plays blackjack, I read the points don't accumulate as quickly.... is there a different formula / time spent? Thanks for your help as this will matter to us in September!

My husband plays only Video Poker and it takes almost twice as long to get points. He doesn't get the card till day 3 or 4. I usually have it by day 2. I like that I walk on with it on this short cruise.

It is definitely cheaper to buy our own drinks; but if we're going to play anyway, we might as well have something to look forward to!

  • 2 weeks later...

It was 800 points for free drink card if anyone wants to know and had a great cruise. Noticed some small differences but nothing earth shattering, only real bummer no shrimp cocktail everynight. Still feel carnival is number one but understand peoples concerns with the shrinkage.

Go Bulls:p

We have cards for casinos, so I'm assuming the card for the onboard casinos work the same way, but is there a website where I can read about this program before we go on our cruise?

you use your sail and sign card, the same way as a casino card. Once in the casino, you set up your card with a pin # and play away, Also if you dont want to feed the machine cash you can withdraw money from your sail and sign card.

I wonder if my points will carry over on my B2B :D

The table games are very different. You need to play a minimum of 4 hrs per day and bet an average of $20 per hand to be rated and its not so easy getting points. They use a manual system and they told me its based on what I wrote at the beginning. No other explanation.

No they will not. I did a back to back on the Dream last year - had to earn my drink card on both legs (not that I had a problem, I'm a big gambler and had it very quickly on the second cruise).

Just to be clear...when using the DOU card, you MUST be actually sitting at a MACHINE and playing before they will bring a drink to you. Also, you are only permitted to have 1 drink every 15 minutes.

Enjoy!!

Is that for the rest of the cruise? m--

Yes, it is ONLY for drinks while you are in the casino. Your card has to actually be in the machine also.

This was my experience on the DREAM and PRIDE.

Also, for the smokers, you are NOT PERMITTED TO SMOKE in the casino unless the machines are active. We sat in the casino about 10 minutes after we left port and all of the ashtrays were taken away until we got into International waters and the machines kicked on. Then, they brought the ashtrays and you were permitted to smoke in the designated smoking machine areas...
