We r going to be in Talkeetna Sunday afternoon/Monday morning mid aug before heading to Whittier to board Coral Princess. We have booked excursions in all our ports as well as Denali. Quite frankly I think Talkeetna should be a "take the bus to town and eat/drink beer" kind of deal. Any suggestions on things to do there? Flying not a choice cause we've already booked a flight tour and they're expensive and don't really feel like getting in a raft for half a day. We r two middle aged chicks that like to roam around.

If you are not planning to fly and not planning to raft, there is less than nothing to do in Talkeetna.

Where are you staying? If you are at the Princess Resort you are about 45 minutes from town. We did a gold panning excursion when there. Nothing special but sorta fun.

We're @ the Princess lodge. Read about a shuttle that runs into town but not sure of running hrs. The day we're there is also last day of Olympics. :(

2nd the suiggestion on Denali Brewing....... Great beer and burgers.

The town is cute and nice to walk around.
