Few SUITE questions!

A 2-Bedroom Family Suite is really the way to go when traveling with kids!

The butler is great for running miscellaneous errands throughout the ship for you.

But I'd have to say the BEST suite benefit in an SC cabin is the cordless phone (near the coffee machine) that works anywhere on the ship. It has its own extension separate from the room phone where you can be reached. My wife and I would use it to call the concierge to make dinner reservations usually while walking around the ship (that's when our dining fancy would strike). And it was very helpful with the Kids Club as they could call us directly when they needed to instead of paging us with the standard beeper they hand out and having to find a house phone (which happened a couple times due to "accidents").

Bick enjoy your cruise you will be spoiled lol. I often have my butler bring me eggs bacon or any other breakfast I want like fresh fruit dish. Also ask for the pretzel rolls. There are no ipod stationss except in owners suite so bring your own. My butler also brought me little boxes of cereal and milk because I kept weird hours in the casino till 2ish then then night butler would bring me dvds and hot wings lol. Your butler will be there for you the concierge can help with reservations I got some for main dining room. Go to your roll call and don't forget to tip your butler and concierge have fun

Can't you make hot chocolate using the Lavazza coffee machine? (The hot chocolates come in those little containers, right?)

So, I won't need a butler to bring me hot chocolate when I can make it myself.

We've had some of those at home but I haven't seen them on the ship. Usually we just get the squarish packets from the buffet but the last trip the butler saw we did that the first night then he just stocked some for us.

You can put water in a cup and the machine will warm your water to your liking and then you can add the packet.

Thank you! Do you make reservations for the main dining rooms as well or leave that up to chance?

Such good info!

I don't believe you can reserve seating in the dining rooms, unless you are part of a larger party that wants to sit together. In that case, you are also limited to resrvations outside of the more usual dining hours.

You can make reservations for all the specialty restaurants. You can do this through the concierge. However, it's worth noting that (except for the Teppanyaki) we have always found it possible to walk up to a specialty restaurant with no reservation, and get seats relatively quickly.

The Teppanyaki must be reserved in advance because of very limited seating and only a certain number of servings per night.

Depends on the day. If there is something we really want to do, we have the concierge make us a reservation in the larger MDR so we are sure to get in and out quickly.

Great thanks a lot. I will probably never turn back from that 2 bed suite now. I was already looking at a cruise for us for next summer and it doesn't seem that a lot of ships have them! Too bad!

I thought of another question, what kind of breakfast/room service can you get delivered? Is it the normal room service menu or something special? ;) Can't wait!!!

You can get whatever you want for breakfast even that little something special just ask your butler btw Welcome to the suite life

All the Jewel class and Dawn class ships have SC (Family Penthouse with Balcony) which used to be AB's. Which ships were you looking at that don't have them?

I've seen on here that you can order from a specialty restaurant and pay the fee but I've also seen people post that the fee only applies if you order an entree.

What is the policy on this? If I order the tiramisu from the Italian restaurant for a late night snack, do I pay the cover charge?

Can I even do that or do you have to order a whole meal?

In a Penthouse suite on Star if that makes a difference.

You can order appetizers from Cagneys, then the main from Le Bistro (for a fee) and dessert from somewhere else and only have to pay the upcharge for the main you ordered from Le Bistro. (For example)

Thanks!

I love tiramisu and don't care much for the other desserts on NCL so I might just order that as a snack once or twice.

I think you were on our last cruise on the Star last October, first one out of Tampa to the Western Carib? I think I remember your name from the roll call. If so, Hi again!

Hello,

This is our first time on NCL...Has anyone had the Owner's Suite.

I know its forward. My question is when going through the Panama Canal do you get a good view on the balcony. Never had a forward cabin. Any help would be great...

Thanks Jacquelyn

Is there a charge if you DON'T order a main dish and just order appetizers and/or desserts from one or more speciality restaurants?

If you are on the Pearl, Jewel, or Star (which I think are the next ones to go through PC) you would have two balconies in the OS - one in front and the side one. Either would give great views. I see the Sun is also going but not sure about that layout.

Is this only a SC perk or do all suites have them? This is the first I have read about the phone.

Thanks

I have had friends use the Concierge make reservations in the MDR because they wanted to sit near the rear windows.

I've also seen Suite passengers discreetly flash there room card since all Suite passengers have a distinct color card, in order to jump the line get into the MDR when there was a wait.

Thanks so much. We are booked for the PC cruise for Feb 2014 in the OS..

All the suites have the portable phone.:)

Definitely not all of the suites on all of the ships, but most do. I have been in several that did not have the portable phone, even on the Sun a few weeks ago.
