cruz chic Posted July 19, 2012 #77 Share Posted July 19, 2012 Bed, Bath and Beyond and many other stores sell handheld luggage scales for $9.99 about . They weigh just about nothing and take up little space. We never fly without taking one along with us. I'd far rather pay for an extra suitcase than overweight. I keep a collapsible duffel in front pocket of one of our suitcases. If our bag is near 50 pounds, I take things out of it, put those things in the duffle and pay far less for the extra bag than for overweight. Radio Shack used to have one of those scales. Magellans and Amazon probably sell them also, if anyone is interested. Have you found those scales to be accurate? I have a Heys luggage scale and it's bang on. I think I paid around $20 or $25 for it. I've had cheaper ones but they have been totally inaccurate.
trophy_23 Posted July 19, 2012 #78 Share Posted July 19, 2012 http://www.nautilusreels.com/estore/details/28409 This is the one we use, it is quite accurate. It is actually a fish scale, so we have one for that and one for luggage. :D I got it a lot cheaper than that though.

I always make sure the bags are 48 pounds or less to allow for a slight variance and we've never had an overweight baggage charge. ........ yet. :D
