Thoughts on "British Invasion" show on the Star?

I've seen more than a few people say the "Stardust" show really isn't worth seeing, but what about the "British Invasion" that is the other option for my upcoming cruise on the Star? It looks amusing at least, but is it really worth seeing? If you did like "Stardust," why?

We like it. Have seen it twice; two different cruises. Not on the Star.

Presumably "British Invasion" will be pop hits from the 1960s UK bands such as the Rolling Stones, Beatles, The Who and Dave Clark 5 etc. ?

As a teenager of the 60"s, I sure hope it will be on the Star in November.

We were on the Star earlier this month in Alaska. I was REALLY looking forward to this show. However I must say I was extremely disappointed. As teenager growing up in the 60s I obviously was right in the middle of this music. However I looked at the British Invasion ending in the late 60s. Yet for this show they had songs from the 70s and 80s included. IMHO I didn't think the lead singers had very good voices. And to have a female singing Jumping Jack Flash just did not sound right. I'll be on the Star again in late October to Hawaii and it is highly doubtful that I'll go see it again.

I have to say I felt the opposite. I understand Princess' target audience, and I'm your age, but I wish at least occasionally there was actual rock music actually from the last actual quarter-century. The show, as I recall, only included one song that could be regarded as remotely current, "Rehab." There's so much worthwhile music that's been made lately, but Princess caters to folks who stopped listening to new pop music sometime around Nixon's resignation. If I never hear "Fun, Fun, Fun" again, it'll be too soon.

I thought the show was uneven, but liked it more the second time I saw it.

I am not much of a go to the show person usually but this show and On the Bayou are both excellent, British Invasion is high energy and great props and songs, On the Bayou is just a great experience, more laid back but fantastic costumes as you would hope for a New Orleans based show.

Princess have two real winners of shows here, I just hope they don't cut down the length of these shows as I heard some have been recently.

If you have seen the Motown show, then you will likely find the British Invasion to be quite similar - just different song selection. As others noted it is a high energy show but there is little real link to the typical dance of the songs period to the dances they are doing.

It is no Broadway....but we thought all the shows were entertaining. Stardust was actually my mom's favorite because she like the music and the favorite part of the shows for us was the principle female singer - she was outstanding. We are not gamblers or bar people so we enjoyed the shows each evening then had coffee and dessert afterward with some family and friends. As I said the quality was not Broadway (which is 20 minutes from us and we love) but we enjoyed it very much. If you have nothing else to do - and there is always time to gamble or eat on a ship...try the shows.

It's no better or no worse than any other Princess production show. Anyway, what else it there to do besides go to your room or the casino?
We seldom go to production shows and I have never been in the casino, but some of the best times I have had on a cruise were in my room.

We saw it on the Golden when the show was supposedly pretty new (and was on only a few ships at that time). It was okay (the Motor City show was the best show we saw in those two weeks). I grew up in the 60s so that era is what I think of when it comes to the British Invasion, music wise. But not a waste of our time. We're not casino goers so we're going to seek out a show or a lounge that has live music.

While I was watching the Olympics opening ceremony last night, the Princess show seemed to pale in comparison, but I figured each song they use, they must pay for its use and the Danny Boyle had a bigger budget. Even though, they didn't seem to mention Elton John or use any of his music.

We continue to go even though we've see every show many times over and always sit at the end of the aisles. If a particular performance gets to boring we can always bail out without having everyone else get up during the show.

I do that too!

I consider the aisle seats a premium location for that reason plus I can leave immediately just prior to the last note before the people start lining up on the stairs.

Cruises, and life in general, are just too short to do something you don't want to do... Always have an escape plan...:)

We just saw British Invasion this past week and I really enjoyed it! It was probably my favorite of the Princess production shows that I've seen. I liked Motor City, but Stardust was a bit "old" for me. I did find myself occasionally thinking to myself, "Was that group/singer British?"

I don't know how many of you will "get" this, but I found it amusing that they kind of "Rickrolled" us in this show. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rickrolling)

I found the "lost phone" romance of the pop segment kinda stupid, but a lot of the music selection was outstanding, not just a bunch of obvious warhorses. I'd much rather hear Millie Small sing "My Boy Lollipop" than Sir Elton singing "Candle in the Whatever" for the zillionth time, but that's me.

I also adored how the taped intro to the ceremonies incorporated the Sex Pistols' "God Save the Queen" and, unless my old ears failed me, The Clash's "London's Burning." Cheeky!

Hear that, Princess? Replace "Piano Man" with a show saluting the Clash, the Pistols, and the Buzzcocks. "Punk Man." Now that I'd line up for....
