Yes. The ss Rotterdam (Rotterdam V) was in service from 1959 through 9/30/97. She then transferred to Premier Cruise Line, as the Rembrant, until the line went out of business.

Yes, since the current Rotterdam VI started sailing for HAL on 06 NOV 97. Rotterdam V left the fleet on 02 OCT 97 when she was sold to the former Premier Cruise Line who renamed her Rembrandt

If anyone has an interest, I just purchased some first class (from 1966) and tourist class (from 1959) deck plans from ebay. Let me know. I can try to scan them. I was hoping to get a brochure from the 1970s or 80s and see if there are differences.

Great to see her again. My husband and I took our first cruise on her and got hooked on HAL and cruising. I have not yet sailed on her namesake but have enjoyed every class ship that HAL has since then (except the Pristendam which we will correct in 2014) I still enjoy my pictures of us on the "old" Rotterdam in the "smoking room" which of course is now completely obsolete. I remember how stunned I was that the bartender remembered what I liked and had it waiting for me each day. Nice memories.

 

Took our honeymoon on the V. Loved it. Ships of today don't compare.

Wow! Lots of great posts here! Great pics Roy. Nice :) If anyone finds a pic with both ships in it, please let me know.

 

I seemed to have misplaced all the old brochures. Does anyone have Rotterdam V deck plans? I've searched all over Google with no leads :rolleyes:
