Too early to book FLL hotel for Presidents Day weekend?

We booked a President's Day week sailing out of FLL. We are flying down the night before. Our usual hotel choices are over $400 a night for the Saturday night. Is there hope that the prices will go down or should I book something to just be safe? We booked Southwest airfare on the day it was released and it has only gone up since then.

Emily, this is what I do.

Book something now so you have something in place.

Then every couple of weeks check the site to see if the price went down. If it did then call to get the lower rate.

We do this all the time.

I'm with Keith on this one, book something so you have something and constantly check between now and then to change or lower the price. It's a really busy week as you know, so I would always feel more comfortable if I had something locked in.

Just make sure you read the fine print and can cancel!

Yep. Book anything you can live with and are able to cancel. Then start watching discount sites come November. With more recession talk, things might slow again, offering more vacant rooms. Never know.

If you are particular about which hotel, watch their websites and lastminutetravel.com.

What are the dates for 2013? Will pricing be affected just for the weekend or for the whole week?

President's "Week" is typically a BIG time for schools (especially up North) to be out for winter break........so expect crowds and higher prices
