Boomer 123 Posted September 6, 2012 #51 Share Posted September 6, 2012 I guess we just don't cruise enough like most of the people on this board to get tired of the good stuff. We get all the spaghetti, pizza and hot dogs we want at home. :D
EdmPair Posted September 8, 2012 #52 Share Posted September 8, 2012 'I do not think that word means what you think it means.' Order what you want. We all pay for food and while I enjoy exploring the menus in the MDR, eventually you have eaten you want. If spaghetti and meatballs is available, why not?? We only live once and eating something more basic than gourmet on a cruise ship seems a small issue if its an issue at all. If 'it's inconceivable', you are having a failure of imagination. pablo222 Posted September 8, 2012 #53 Share Posted September 8, 2012 Yes, like when people RAVE about the pastry at the International Cafe. Hello?? I have never see the ham and cheese croissants that they have at the i.cafe available in the lido. Although, in the past year or so, these have been down-sized -- so, if you want a reasonable ratio of ham+cheese to croissant, you need to combine two or three. Also, I have never see the yogurt parfaits in a high ball glass other than at the i.cafe; or the gelatto.

While there are a few things at the IC they don't have elsewhere on the ship the sandwiches they make are pathetic. They're more like finger food one would see at a party. :D The pastries are fresher there only if you get them early in the morning when first removed from the oven otherwise they're the same as in the Horizon or dining room although on occasion they do make something special. My comment was regarding the pastry. The pastry is the same as you get at the Horizon Court. People seem to think it is better or special just because it came from the IC. :D

srpilo Posted September 8, 2012 #58 Share Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) We don't spend a lot of time on cruises worried about getting the maximum dollar value of food each day. We eat what we want. Sometimes it's the cheap stuff, sometimes (especially with the stilton, blue and parmesan cheeses) it's the pricey stuff. Yep.. Cruisers from WA Posted September 9, 2012 #61 Share Posted September 9, 2012 I ordered this past spring on our balcony dinner. It was okay, but I am not into quanity or abundance of lactose and sugar. It was ordered along with escargot and other things I never ordered but wanted to order. (our waiter said he liked our order as we "shook thing up"....instead serving of the "same old, same old" balcony dinner!)

Rare Shippy Posted May 27, 2014 #63 Share Posted May 27, 2014 It looks better than it actually tastes. Mostly gobs of whipped cream with only 3 scoops of ice cream beneath. Ordered it once & I'd rather settle for one of their other desserts. Gobs of whipped cream with ONLY 3 scoops of ice cream, banana, sauce & cherry..... I think it tastes just as good as it looks.... you say 'only 3 scoops of ice cream' like that is not enough.....burp..
