Is a suite necessary or just a sweettreat?

Just a couple of corrections-- it was real Champagne in our suites, and a perfectly good one. My French family is in the beverage business, so I know of what I speak.

Is their last name Pérignon?

And yes, the espresso machine in both of our suites had a real frother, and no one was harmed in the making of cappuccinos.

Were you in a family suite or something better? Which ship? The Star's coffee maker was just a K-Cup unit.

The coffee was Lavazza, the same one I use at home and love most in the world.

Now I know it wasn't the same unit. Thanks for clarifying.

What you call a refrigerator actually was stocked (and restocked) as requested by us, thereby qualifying as mini-bar, and I never encountered old sushi, so no clue where you got that one, either.

Exaggeration for comedic effect. :) I'm not as priggish as a lot of other people seem to be.

I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that you have never been in one of NCL's suites, or you would at least be giving factual information.

On the contrary. I have. I had asked before about the differences between the gem class ships and the older ones like the Star and was told they were essentially the same in amenities. Is that information was wrong? What ship were you on? The Epic? That may explain why the amenities were a lot nicer.

I love the stern PH on the old Sun. It's great. Worth every penny. Only misgiving is no Lavazza. Only a drip pot. So I just go to Il Adagio (no Cagney's on Sun) and get French press.

mfw you imply the "champagne" they give you is Champagne vs. "sparkling wine."

Did you know the water from the faucets in the suites is sweeter than the regular cabins? My butler told me so I know it's true.

It was you who said that champagne is included in the suites, it wasn't me!

Some suites have that included but most suites don't have any champagne included in the fare.

I do it this way. Lowest is balcony as seeing and listening to the ocean is num one priority. Then I only go as high as $1,500pp for our cabin. If that buys a suite, great! If not, no biggie.

I've never let suite life, haven, our destination or length of cruise trick me into spending more. Budget is king.

So far we've sailed in 2 suites and have one more coming up. Out of 13 total cruises. Rest were balconies. We don't upgrade to minis, waste of money.

I should never book anything less than a suite myself. If someone gave me a cruise for free I should take it even if it wasn't a suite unless it was a cruise on the Epic. A cruise on the Epic without a suite should not be worth it for me if I had to pay for everything else, airfare, hotel etc.

I guess that my answer to the OP is that a suite is necessary on the Epic and a sweettreat on the other ships.

Of course this is just my opinion but noone can give anything else.

And sometimes you just can't give your opinion.

With some of this back abd forth pi##ing contest IMHO here is my synopsis:

WE ALL CRUISE FOR DIFFERENT REASONS. SOME TO EXPLORE THE WORLD, SOME TO ESCAPE STRESSFUL LIVES, SOME TO SOCIALIZE OR ROMANCE OR MANY OTHER REASONS.

NCL IS A GREAT LINE. YOU CAN CRUISE IN AN INSIDE ROOM, ONLY PAY THE DSC AND HAVE A BLAST.

OR YOU CAN LIVE LIKE ROYALTY IN A GARDEN VILLA.

OR ANYTHING IN BETWEEN... ALL IS GOOD. IT'S CALLED CHOICE.

PEOPLE WHO CHOOSE SUITES ARE NOT STUCK UP SNOBS.

PEOPLE WHO CRUISE INSIDES ATE NOT BUMPKINS.

PEOPLE WHO CHOOSE SPECIALTY RESTAURANTS ARE NOT JUST FOOD SNOBS.

PEOPLE WHO FREQUENT THE CASINOS ARE NOT LOSERS, (MIGHT I MENTION I WON MORE THAN THE AMOUNT OF MY FIRST CRUISE... AND THAT MEANS PROFIT).

PEOPLE WHO CHOOSE NCL EXCURSIONS ARE NOT STUPID AND PEOPLE WHO BOOK THEIR OWN AREN't EITTHER.

PEOPLE WHO SPEND TIME ON THEIR CABINS AND EVEN WATCH TV OR DVDS AREN'T GASP LAZY, ANTISOCIAL DEADBEATS.

PEOPLE WHO ONLY SLEEP, SHOWER AND CHANGE IN THEIR CABINS AREN'T "MISSING SOMETHING".

THOSE WHO DO SPA, ART AUTIONS, EMERALDS, ETC. AREN'T THROWING THEIR MONEY AWAY... IT'S THEIR MONEY AND THEY DETERMINE THE VALUE.

MY PERFECT CRUISE IS NOT YOUR PERFECT CRUISE.

BUT LET'S NOT PICK EACH OTHER TO DEATH BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT WANTS AND NEEDS. B

LET'S EMBRANCE THE FACT NCL GIVES US ALL THAT CHOICE!

IN THE MEANTIME, COME VISIT ME IN MY SUITE. VI PACKED MY MINI BLENDER AND I MAKE A MEAN FROZEN COSMO.

YES, I TAKE ADVANTAGE OF NCL'S OVERPRICED BAR SETUP... GLADLY!

HAPPY CRUISING.[/quote

Your so right

i cruise in a suite because i can afford it if i couldnt i would do an inside and have no problem

i travel first class or buisness because i can afford it but have and will travel economy

im not stuck up and love to eat in the buffet and never ever dress up

i dont do casinos but those that do should have fun

i have bought emeralds and never lost money on the insurance valuations

all these r my choice thats y i love ncl and the people that cruise with them

We've dpne both, but have only chosen a suite on our more scenic cruise (Hawaii & Alaska). While the perks are nice in a suite, they certainly aren't a necessity for us. I think it's a matter of preference and how much one's budget can handle. That being said, we have never cruised Spring Break.

We started our cruising on NCL with interior cabins...got a good deal on a suite..and fell in love...Now have done 2 aft suites..and booked another for next year...We do not use some perks ...but love the priority boarding and disembarking a lot and breakfast and lunch in Cagneys...

For us...as long as we can afford it...we will book suites...

(of note...I am booked solo for November..and took an interior...it will be fine for just me ....so it is not that I am a "suite snob":D)

Speaking of Spring Break, I'm from Canada & our spring break in Ontario is Mar 10-14/13, is this true for the US also?

Spring breaks are spread over a two month period in the States, depending on where you are from. The cruise that the OP is talking about is a week later than our march break. I wish the 9 day Caribbean was during our break. I've done the Bahamas one too many times, it's not the best itinerary.

Might see you on the Epic though :)
