Acklander Posted September 17, 2012 #151 Share Posted September 17, 2012 I agree. I am a little concerned with Carnival doing this drink package. I can see now where people are going to feel the need to have all 15 drinks every day to make it worth it to them and honestly, that's A LOT of booze in a 7 day cruise. And, if it's a couple they BOTH have to get this package, not just one. I can see where there are going to be loads of wasted people wandering around the ship and those loud and annoying drunks that just make the cruise miserable for the rest of us. Don't get me wrong, my DH and I have a few drinks a day while on deck or in the shows/clubs, but never that much...EVER! I do wish Carnival would do an "ultimate drink package" like princess has where you can have all the "non-alcoholic" drinks you want (soda, milkshakes, virgin mocktails, etc). That is one of the reasons we love Princess. I don't really get this logic - technically, I can have as many drinks as I want without the drink program. Dh and I both work hard, and get very little vacation time, so money isn't really an issue - but having a good time is important. If I wanted to buy 100 drinks, I could buy it - but I don't. Because I wouldn't be having fun. So, while I feel I would get my money's worth, I doubt I would drink 15 drinks a day just because I could. So, I don't see people ordering extra drinks beyond what they are comfortable with, just to get their money's worth. When I go to a buffet, technically I could eat an entire cake, but I wouldn't. iRICKATRON Posted September 17, 2012 #152 Share Posted September 17, 2012 so can it be pre paid for?? like with the cost of the cruise?
cathyz Posted September 17, 2012 #153 Share Posted September 17, 2012 so can it be pre paid for?? like with the cost of the cruise? I don't think so, everyone has said you can only purchase on board.
Avril Posted September 17, 2012 #154 Share Posted September 17, 2012 When are they going to expand the program fleet wide? I think it sounds great and I'd love to try it on my B2B next year!!!! :D Sent from my iPad
Ron_L Posted September 17, 2012 #155 Share Posted September 17, 2012 so can it be pre paid for?? like with the cost of the cruise? Not directly. So far the package is only sold on board. But, you could buy enough Funship Dollars o cover the cost of the package and apply them as OBC and then use that to buy the package once on board. flt72 Posted September 17, 2012 #156 Share Posted September 17, 2012 Hoping for this offering on the Liberty by November (when 5 of us sail). We did this on Celebrity, last year and it was well worth it.
cruisinJenF Posted September 17, 2012 #157 Share Posted September 17, 2012 It would be worth it to me as I enjoy a Martini b/4 dinner, so I'd probably have at least one more with dinner, maybe 2 so there so 30.00 right there. I have found that I enjoy Bon Voyage also so it would be interesting to weigh the options. Martinis are only $8.95 and you can't upgrade your vodka on it because it would put it over $10.00. If its over $10 you only get 25% discount with the program.

SNJCruisers Posted September 18, 2012 #159 Share Posted September 18, 2012 If you arent a wine drinker, its puzzling why you would offer up info on wines :) The majority of wine drinkers, consume their wine during dinner. Also since this program is on Breeze now, we have to add the Red frog rum bar http://www.carnival.com/onboard/bars-lounges/~/media/CCLUS/Images/pdf/RedFrogRumBarmenupdf.ashx and Blue Iguana menu http://www.carnival.com/onboard/bars-lounges/~/media/CCLUS/Images/pdf/BlueIguanaTBarmenupdf.ashx So lets not get fixated on just one menu, when discussing this program. Its new, so its best if we can get accurate information out there, which will help fellow cruisers interested in the program. No question about getting fixated....the two bar menus you mentioned will get lots of business from me in January. ;)
SNJCruisers Posted September 18, 2012 #160 Share Posted September 18, 2012 Just needing a point of clarification - don't need to sound confusing or dumb, but I'm having a brain freeze. Is there a maximum amount of drinks per day you can have and is soda totally unlimited? Thanks:D Soda is unlimited and the maximum # of alcoholic drinks has been reported to be 15 per day. The only problem is nobody has posted as to what hours constitute a day. Is it 12am-1159 pm or 900am-300am, when the bars are open. Another question... one of the (many) restrictions says that it doesn't include drinks in specialty cups... Does this include the Drinks of the Day served (on some ships) in those plastic hurricane cups? Gotta have my Funship specials on sailaway day. Thanks! The souvenir cups are not included in the program, but you can get the DOD in a regular glass.
cruisinJenF Posted September 18, 2012 #161 Share Posted September 18, 2012 Grey Goose upgraded martinis are only 1.00 dollar more @ 9.95, so they ARE included in the program. My receipts with upgraded Grey Goose on my screwdrivers this week show a $2 charge for the Grey Goose. Same with the Kamikaze shooters DH ordered- from $5.95 to $7.95 after he upgraded to Grey Goose,
cruisinJenF Posted September 18, 2012 #162 Share Posted September 18, 2012 WOW!!! So I just added up all our bar charges.....drumroll...... We ordered $842.70 worth of drinks!!!! Wow- I was thinking it was a lot less than that. My liver needs a detox just thinking about it. Considering we spent $690.00 for the program I would say we came out ahead!! Hooray!!! I did hit it hard those last two days :) One more thing that bothered me about it. We took some friends out to the Steak House to celebrate their anniversary- the whole meal including drink was supposed to be our treat. Sadly- they would not let us PAY for their drinks! I told them we weren't looking to get them for free for them, I wanted to PAY for them. Their system has no way of overriding any drinks ordered on your Sail and Sign account so you can pay for them. So if you plan to buy drinks for someone you will have to give them money to put on their S&S. Kind of annoying but not a big problem

That will be a problem if two single guys are traveling together, participating in the program and they want to buy a young lady a drink. :(

And being the social gentlemen we are we would be buing drinks for some ladies this would make it a lil difficult! That is valuable feedback to send to CCL directly or through JH... Because it also means that you are limited to 15 drinks yourself per day, no matter what. After 15 on the plan you should be able to buy more, provided the server feels you are not overly intoxicated... Also, if I win big in the casino, I like to buy a round for my friends that are there. :)
jules815 Posted September 18, 2012 #167 Share Posted September 18, 2012 From John Heald's blog today... "The other news was the addition of the Carnival Breeze to the Awesome Drinks Program which is of course our all-inclusive drinks offering which can be found here on the Carnival Breeze as well as the Carnival Splendor and Carnival Victory. I have had so many positive comments about it, both in person from those partaking of it here on the ship and on my Facebook page as well. I have been asked countless times, “When will it be on the ship I am going on?”, and while I have no definite news on the roll-out plan, I imagine that as popular as it is, that we will see it on other ships soon." Star1 Posted September 18, 2012 #172 Share Posted September 18, 2012 Do I have this right. If I want to buy a drink for a friend I can order myself a drink than 5 minutes later I can order another drink again for myself(friend). I can do this all day up to 15 drinks per day. Not a bad deal for 4 friends in two different cabins. One cabin buys the package, the other cabin shares the package. Great price for 7 drinks per day per person. Do I have this correct???? klmorg Posted September 18, 2012 #174 Share Posted September 18, 2012 The souvenir cups are not included in the program, but you can get the DOD in a regular glass. Which is odd because the DOD's (in the plastic hurricane cups) cost less than the $10 restriction. There are quite a few restrictions with this program, it is certanly not unlimited or all-inclusive. And no bottled water?
