DVD Help

Hi, I'm on a cruise next week. I have a VB cabin, which, of course, has a DVD player. Does anyone know if I can get DVDs on the ship, given that we are in a VB versus a suite, or do I have to bring my own? Thanks for any help. :)

I'm not sure what the last poster was saying - but if you are renting from the DVD library on HAL (free) then you will be able to watch as much and as many as you choose:D:D Unless you are fussy, there is no need to bring your own.

You should be able to borrow DVD's from the ship. Keep in mind that the country code on DVD's might not be compatible with country code of the DVD Player.

What I was trying to say was that DVD players and DVD have a country code. If these codes don't match ,the DVD won't play properly if at all.

Saying this just a warning that a US DVD might not play on the DVD Player on HAL.

I am missing something here  wasn't the op asking about renting dvd's on board??? That being the case, OP has a lot of choices and there is no issue with country codes or whatever:)

Every cabin on every HAL ship has a DVD player, and access to DVDs at no charge. There's a booklet listing out hundreds to select from.

And of course, if HAL is furnishing the DVDs, then they are compatible with the player in the cabin.

I would not bring your own. The ship does have a large selection of fairly recent movies (over a year old, not recent new releases) as well as several TV series on DVD. My wife and i like to use ShipFlix on sea days to catch up on movies we may have missed over the years.

Movies you bring from home might not work on the DVD players due to the region code issues mentioned above (most of the ship's electronics are 220V so my assumption is that the DVD Player's not the North American Region 1 variety) -- and your disks might be damaged/lost in your luggage/travel so I wouldn't risk it really.
