Wow...we had a different captains he 19th-26th. Guess the switchover happened in Miami on Saturday the 26th.

 

Possibly. My understanding is there are 2 captains that rotate. Frank ? & Sverre Sovdsnes. Not sure when they switch over. Anyway Sverre Sovdsnes was great.

Just returned from my EPIC vacation. Here is the list I have put together. Hope it helps as I know I always like to know this info before we travel..

That's probably Capt Frank Juliussen. Normal rotation for NCL captains is on a 10 weeks on/10 weeks off basis.

I have had 17 cruises with Norwegian. In that time I have met several Senior Staff members that I enjoy being around. I have also met staff members that I would prefer not to sail with again. Would I cancel a cruise if I found out someone was on board that I did not care for, no. Would a book a cruise because a certain Senior Staff member would be on board, YES. I have done that a number of times.

CD Sinan Ulucay said he'd be back on the Gem starting Feb 14th (from his Facebook page).

 

Wooohooo! I'll be on the Gem in 10 days and so ready to do the single digit happy dance. Sinan is a blast and sure to make my cruise virgin friends smile and crack up laughing at the last show. I can hear him now... "Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's bingo time!" :D.

Oh no! Hugo is leaving the Jewel? I am happy for him, but really sad for me. I booked a b2b2b on the Jewel for 2014 Panama Canal cruise, mainly because he would be the HD (and where Hugo goes Ravi usually goes) as opposed to Pearl or Sun.

 

The Breakaway will be getting IMHO the best HD in the business.

*Paul Scally was covering for Sinan, who returned to the ship 2/14/13. Paul Scally no longer has a contract with the cruise lines. He will be doing his comedy act around the country. He said that when he got off the ship yesterday, he was going to London to visit friends and family, then he would return to Wisconsin, where his wife and baby are. He plans to travel the US with his comedy show.

Steven will be leaving 3-10 for vacation, he did not say who his replacement would be. Kevin Bland is on his first tour with NCL, he just spent 3 months on the Spirit.

Loved Richard as the cruise director.

We were in cabin 9002 foward suite and our Butler was Teresa Perez "Mama T", room steward was Jongle Yanong

We will be on the Breakaway in August....if Dan the man will be there...was he good?

 

And as for the question about how important it is....

 

I can honestly say that the CD doesn't ruin the experience but he/she can make it even better! We had a CD named Kelvin Joy on a Princess cruise and he made it especially memorable...we are still in contact with him....then we have had others that we don't even remember one way or another...

The Cruise Director should be Sinan.

There are a lot of changes coming with getting ready for The Breakaway. It will be hard to know who is where for a little bit.
