meapya Posted November 27, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2012 yes, these: i had not purchased a soda/beer card on my cruise last year, instead had lots of water/tea/lemondade. these packs imo, were 'healthier' as they 'claim' 90% less calories, yet enough to add flavor to water..... who else uses these? ME Guide Posted November 28, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 28, 2012 Hi, I used to pack those but find that it is easier to make my own with a couple of fresh squeezed lemon slices and equal or other sweetener. Unless you like a particular flavor, lemons are readily available. I also sometimes just use 1/3 glass of punch and fill with ice and water. That also is fine with me. On the other hand, I pack packets of Propel, a product good to rehydrate if one does come down with the dreaded noro or other intestinal bug. Knock on wood, have never used it. Walmart carries it in the same section as the other powdered drink mixes.
KirkNC Posted November 28, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 28, 2012 We have brought them in the past.
5326jan Posted November 28, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 28, 2012 I prefer these: The flavor is milder and there isn't any dye. I don't really have a problem drinking things that have coloring in them, I just find after a while they stain the inside of the Tervis Tumbler straws. If they stain the straws, they may be staining my teeth too! DH likes Mio, but that has a lot of coloring too. We bring along our Tervis Tumblers or Tervis Waterbottles so that the drink stays cold for hours, but the container doesn't sweat!
montekat Posted November 28, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 28, 2012 We always bring Crystal Lite packets. I also like the Hawaiian Punch and several of the Wyler's flavors. We even take these into local restaurants instead of buying the overpriced sodas or tea. Water is always supplied for free.

cb at sea Posted November 29, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 29, 2012 We just drink the water plain! No added calories at all! Quenches your thirst just fine.
simplelife Posted May 6, 2013 #8 Share Posted May 6, 2013 These are great. I like the kiwi strawberry flavor - very tropical. Good with rum added too, makes a lower calorie drink.
misty57 Posted May 8, 2013 #9 Share Posted May 8, 2013 We took Mio on our last cruise, but we find that we like the Koolaid water flavor enhancers better. They are also a little less expensive. I might try the propel.
Sue Do-Over Posted May 8, 2013 #10 Share Posted May 8, 2013 We pack the Propel for shore excursions. Bottled water is usually lots cheaper than Gatoraid, and they have just enough calories to keep us going.
monakayk Posted May 20, 2013 #11 Share Posted May 20, 2013 (edited) I like to take the pink lemonaide dry packets too on cruises. I have found at my local Target stores these other dry mixes: http://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=market+pantry+dry+margarita+drink+mix&category=0|All|matchallpartial|all+categories&lnk=snav_sbox_market+pantry+dry+margarita+drink+mix The one I have used most is the Margarita mix. It is a bit sweeter than I like, but I just add a squeeze of real lime to it that I get through room service: http://www.target.com/p/market-pantry-sugar-free-lime-margarita-powdered-drink-mix-11-oz-10-pk/-/A-13338134#prodSlot=medium_1_1&term=market+pantry+dry+margarita+drink+mix Edited May 20, 2013 by monakayk
trinaM Posted April 17, 2014 #12 Share Posted April 17, 2014 I have used them and it works out well for me. I am a little tired of the "lemonade:" flavor though! too many uses I do like them though.
LrgPizza Posted April 20, 2014 #13 Share Posted April 20, 2014 These are a staple at our house. Our son does not drink pop. When on the go, he grabs a water bottle and an individual drink packet. We will definitely take some on our cruise with us, since he gets tired of lemonade really quickly. Since this thread was started, there are countless brands and hundreds of flavors available. We've used them for years.
ptcruiser2006 Posted April 23, 2014 #14 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I've used these when I was pregnant and can't hold down water. The doctor recommended these for me as they are better than juice in terms of calories. I would use these if I like to drink juice, but usually I don't drink juice. twofools Posted April 24, 2014 #15 Share Posted April 24, 2014 We use Propel packets when traveling anywhere. Like being able to change up from plain water.
