Hi Pam...was the new alcoholic drink package available on the Jewel.

Many of the NCL ships now have it.

Thanks for the review.....looking forward to my upcoming cruise on the Jewel.

Don

Hi Don! As I mentioned, we really don't drink that much, so I have no idea. It wasn't something we looked for. We had the wine...then I had a rebellious fish (just for the glass!) and I had a mudslide in the casino (had to use that free drink card at least once!)

Welcome home Pam. Great review. I can sense your excitment as you were writing your review. I get a feeling this cruise was better than your Epic cruise? Am I correct?

Sounds like you had an amazing time!

Hi David! YES!! We absolutely LOVED this cruise! I think with the EPIC, I just expected sooo much and spent SOOOO much time 'researching' EPIC, that my expectations were way too high.

I like the Jewel class (and the DAWN) much better than the huge Epic.

This cruise was just about perfect. My only disappointment was that they hadn't done any holiday decorating yet. We try to get a holiday photo for our Christmas card and that didn't happen. (very very minor detail!) I did notice while we were waiting in LeBistro to disembark, that they were unloading some wreaths in the next room...so I'm sure they are decorating this week.

what's cas? why they offer free cabins?

CAS is Casino At Sea. I am not a gambler, but I think the following info is correct, if not, someone will correct me. :)

If you are a big player in a casino that participates with the "Total Rewards" card, based on your play, you might be able to book a cruise through CAS and be offered a free room or a discount on a room. Another perk, also based upon play, is a possible "drink card" that gives you free drinks while playing in the casino.

Hi! I am curious if there are 2 showtimes each night? Also, are they all kid friendly?

Thanks!

Pretty much correct. Except - you don't have to be Total Rewards card holder..you just have to play in the casino on NCL, and get a free players card that will track your play. CAS sometimes sends out offers of "free" cabins (all I ever get is inside category) but you still have to pay the taxes, gov fees for the cabin. You can upgrade from your free offer, too.

Also, after you have cruised with NCL and gotten the players card and gambled in the casino onboard, you can call CAS to see what kind of offer you can get for booking your next cruise. Sometimes it is a discount - other times a free cabin...depending on your level of play and the exact sailing you are looking at. When you book through CAS, you will get your players card and free drink card in your cabin upon arrival.

Thanks!

The shows were at 7:30 & 9:30 each night. The ones we saw were kid friendly. They ask that under 10yrs not sit in first rows.

Very much enjoyed your review, and it has me looking forward to boarding in March! So glad to hear that Totaram was your Butler - we had him in February when we stayed in the OS, and absolutely loved him. We still keep in touch via email. He took such wonderful care of our entire family, and we really hope to sail with him again. We're sad that he'll be on vacation when we board next time. :(

So glad you enjoyed your cruise! :D

Adventures of ‘Y’:

Y is our little plastic mascot (not as flexible as Ben the Bendy man!) and we have fun taking photos of him touring different places.

We got him a few years ago in Las Vegas at the M&M store. Yes, we know there is a large M on his midsection, however he is Yellow – hence the name of Y. His normal stance is standing on his hands.

Y had a great time on the cruise! I think he’s spoiled by the Haven suite. <sigh>

The following photos will show Y enjoying the ship & crew!

Haha, this cracked me up. I always thought about doing something like this and almost went and bought an Elf on the Shelf guy for our Christmas cruise.

So if Y stays on his head most of the time, he should have been named W. :p

LOL but he's still Yellow... LOL Since it is usually just the 2 of us traveling together, sometimes we bore each other to death...y gives us something to 'do' at those quiet meal times and we have a blast with him. (that's what happens when you are together 24/7 and run out of conversation) LOL

I have a question on the spa.

Is the Jewel spa like the Pearl spa?

We really enjoyed the Pearl spa pass and hope to get it on the Jewel, only if it's a decent spa. Not like the dark depressing Dawn spa.

Sorry, I can't answer about the spa. I convinced my DH to book the Haven - so I could use the courtyard instead of the spa pass! LOL

They are similar, but I feel the Pearl spa is vastly superior. The co-ed area on the Jewel is tiny with little to offer. If you want to do most of your 'relaxing' without your mate then I guess it won't matter. I rate the Pearl spa on top. Star/Dawn next wand Jewel last.

Thank you. We loved the Pearl Spa weekly pass. It was wonderful. What an amazing spa.

I was hopeful the Jewel would be the same, now I realize it isn't.

We took the Dawn after the Pearl and thought the spa totally depressing and dark and old looking. So we didn't get the weekly spa pass.

I suppose it is only worth it if you are on the Pearl.
