Our children gave us these for Christmas. They sent the e-card to their own email address, printed them out and put them in a card just like a "REAL" gift card. We used them for our cruise in January and Carnival applied the cards to S&S account and used that first then charged any other S&S charges to our credit card. There was no problem what so ever. Canadian's can enjoy getting gift cards too!

one thought until they figure out there are many Canadians that cruise is if you have someone in the states that you can send the money to and they can purchase it for you. then you can give the gift card :)

Just a thought

gift-card.jpg

The card shown here ^

is not-quite the card I bought on board VALOR -and on Glory too..

in the Cherry On Top chocolate shop (Deck 5 I think)

The card I got on board has a big bright golden-yellow Sun in the upper left corner

and is now part of my cruise-card collection!

I'd love to have a copy of this plainer card shown here.

I wonder if this was only ever an illustration, and never an issued card?

Does anyone know? Did anyone ever get This Card, as shown above?

I love the new gift cards! I have received two of them from my husband for my next cruise as a birthday present and have $600.00 on board credit for the week. Foo Foo drinks and some casino time is all covered :) (He did the e-card and e-mailed me the code and card and all I have to do is put the code in a kiosk onboard for the credit).

Kelly, did you receive physical cards (in the Mail) ??

or was the value-transfer deal an electronic one?

If you did get physical cards, what did they look like?

My post above shows the website card, and the real, physical card I got on the ship.

Which card/s did you get? -if any?

I love these cards. We bought several cads last cruise. No fees except for postage to send them to you. You take them to Customer Service or the Kioias? Machine and just apply them to you account balance.

We bought 5 cards and there were 3 different designs. Love them.

Three different designs?

Now you have my interest! Variation is the stuff that Collecting is built upon.

Any chance of you taking pics of those cards, so we can see?

...hoping you still have them, that is.

We are taking a New Year's cruise as a family reunion. I thought of giving the kids (ages 8-17) who will be cruising in the family small ($25) gift cards as holiday gifts. That way, they could use the money in the arcade, or purchase candy/trinkets.

Has anyone noticed any restrictions on children using the gift cards? I don't see anything about that on the website. Would they each have to stand in guest services line to have the money added to their S&S account?

for one-- it costs 7.bucks to have the card sent to you.

These cards still have to be applied to your onboard account. You cant use the cards for spending onboard-- only your sign and sail card.

Parents will still be responsible if the kids over spends.

These cards are now available in grocery stores and other places that sell gift cards. I bought $2000 worth last week at Kroger and used them to make final payment for 3 cabins. We got the credit card points and gas points for $1 off per gallon for out next 4 fill ups. I will get a few hundred $$ for our S & S cards before we leave. I love that these are now available. And no additional fees.

another reason I do not like the card---

with the funship dollars i applied at the guest services-- whatever was left over I got a check for the refund.

that will not happen with the gift card.

wow.. if you order these a lot towards a vacation that 95 cents will rack up.

If you use them for SS, they will be refunded on another gift card, sent by express mail

I'm in Canada. But can go to Buffalo NY. Are they available anywhere there or Niagara falls ?

Yes, the Carnival Gift Card can be purchased in approximately 9,000 retail locations including Kroger, Giant Eagle, Hyvee, Price Chopper, Safeway, Meijer, Albertsons, Lowes, Winn Dixie and Office Max. Publix will join the list of retail locations in the 1st quarter of 2015

This is from Carnival FAQ. I guess you could always call the stores across the border and see if they have them.

Did you get the 4x or 5x points? We had Smith's in New Mexico, but gave up on buying GCs when they started picking and choosing which got the bonus.

I want them because they make a fantastic Xmas or birthday gift for people you know are going to cruise on or have already booked with Carnival. I also live in a remote place where shopping options consist of a small, old Walmart and basically not much else. Shopping online and e-cards are a way of life.

Since these are not available to us Canadians, I plan on going through the bon voyage dept. Buying my kids and thier s/o's some Bar Cash for christmas, printing out the picture of them with a $$ on it. Wrapping them up in a BIG box :p for under the tree!! They are all in their mid 20's so no need to worry about them not using it all up

To clarify: it seems pretty clear that you got 4000 points, which would be 2pts per dollar. Do you know if the periodic 4x/5x promos apply to Carnival gift card?
