Boiler Cruiser Posted December 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2012 I remember from our cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, FL that we dropped off our luggage with the longshoremen to be put in the bins and then onto the ship. What about dropping off our luggage at the pier in San Francisco? Does it work the same way...giving our bags to a longshoreman along with a tip ($5/ bag)...and then they arrive at our stateroom on the ship later in the evening of our first night at sea? Any advice or suggestions specifically about dropping off luggage at the pier in San Francisco that any of you might have would be appreciated. CruiserBruce Posted December 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2012 Yep, same thing. Same thing in virtually every cruise terminal in the world.
Rare LHT28 Posted December 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2012 We dropped ours with the porter.... he left before we could give him a tip but basically the same type of service everywhere
pris993 Posted December 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2012 Basically works the same in San Francisco, as anywhere else. The only suggestion I would make is if there are more than one ship in port, make sure the longshoreman know which ship you are going on. Recently there were two Princess ships in port on the same day and some luggage went to the wrong one. No matter where we leave from, we don't just drop our luggage like many people do. We make sure the luggage get to a bin for our ship.
