davidnsteph Posted December 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2012 We are sailing this Sunday on the Ryndam over the Christmas holiday. This is our 1st cruise on HAL. We called HAL and found out that we are #3 on the waitlist for 1st seating dinner in the main dining room. How do we contact the Maitre'd on embarkation day to request being added to 1st seating, since we're so high on the waitlist? Will we see an assigned time for this on the list of activities when we board the ship? Any help is appreciated.:) David
WeRockChalkKU Posted December 20, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2012 On other ships, they have it posted when and where during embarkation where staff will be to take dining requests/changes for the MDR. I bet you'll get switched and if you don't the first day, they will try to honor it if things change. Good luck!

KirkNC Posted December 20, 2012 #8 Share Posted December 20, 2012 Go to the MDR when you board and talk to them, they should be able to help, another option if eating earlier is important is the any time dining, you can show up when you want and usually get seated right away (immediate seating is tougher in the 7-8 range). Krazy Kruizers Posted December 20, 2012 #9 Share Posted December 20, 2012 When you get your daily Explorers program just just for the time and place that you can see the dining room manager. Usually there is a tablse set up in the Explorer's Lounge.

We'll try this option if necessary. But I have a feeling that we won't have a problem getting onto 1st seating. Thanks, David

Absolutely correct. Generally the desk in the main dining room is staffed during embarkation. I would make it a point to drop by when you board and not leave anything to chance.;) Enjoy your cruise aboard the Ryndam, she's a great ship. Nutriosotoo Posted December 20, 2012 #13 Share Posted December 20, 2012 We have the same problem on our Feb 1st sailing on the Statendam. Have heard that there are lots of long-time Mariners - some with more than 1000 nights on HAL - on our cruise, so might not get the early fixed seating. But, we still plan to hot foot it up to Explorers Lounge to see if we can get it. We're only 220 nights, approx. Hope remains strong. ----Penny
Typhoon1 Posted December 20, 2012 #14 Share Posted December 20, 2012 He is usually stationed near the dining room on embarkation day . The Daily Explorer should have it listed as dining room inquiries. Make it a point to stop by as soon as you are on board.
