Charge for room service?

We are sailing from Galveston on Mariner of the Seas in March. Did I just see somewhere that there is now a charge for room service other than breakfast?

There is a nominal charge of $3.95 per order on orders placed between midnight and 5am. No charge otherwise.

Should we add the tip on top of the $3.95? Wasn't sure if the server keeps the $3.95 or not. Thanks!:)

The "surcharge" IS the tip...no need to add more.

When we were of Freedom & Indy recently we were told by the room service steward that the charge was the tip as well :-)

If you want you could give the person delivering the food a couple bucks. No charge for regular delivery. Between midmight and 5 AM there is a fee charged.

Just off EOS and we were told the after MN charge was NOT a tip, just a surcharge to discourage people from ordering and then not answering the door late at night.

We always tip for room service whether we order within the surcharge time frame or not. We could never get a straight answer about whether that was the tip or a surcharge so we just tipped a little cash. Usually $2-$5 depending on how much we ordered. We just go with $2 per tray delivered, or maybe a little more if it was later at night. They're always very pleased with a little extra cash, of course.
