weatherman46 Posted January 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2013 Having read loads of posts on the Tortola thread, I can't find any which mention showers on Brewers Bay beach. Does anyone know if there are any?
teacherman Posted January 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2013 We were at Brewers Bay about 4 years ago and plan to return there in April. AS I RECALL, Brewer's Bay had one bar (Nicole's), which rented chairs if you wanted. There was natural shade. They had restrooms. Other than that, it was pretty "rustic" which is why we are returning. It was quiet with few people (back then). Things may have changed.
larcha Posted January 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2013 We were at Brewers Bay Campground in April 2012. The tents and area are much improved. The showers are about the same. Here a couple of pictures of the tent area. Go and enjoy! Say hi to Lou for us. Warrior64 Posted January 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2013 Can you rent snorkel gear or kayaks at brewers??
larcha Posted January 13, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2013 There are kayaks at the next bay over, Cane Garden Bay. You need a car to get over to it though. Brewers is great for snorkeling but you should bring your own gear.
blue_water Posted January 13, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2013 CGB has water toys and boat rentals but is much more crowded than Brewer's so be aware of that, if you want a nice quieter bay with a small beach bar Brewer's is the best choice. Warrior64 Posted January 13, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 13, 2013 how far is it from brewers to cane garden?
larcha Posted January 14, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 14, 2013 The distance from Brewers Bay to Cane Garden Bay is not very far. The island is volcanic in origin though so you have to go up and down steep hills a lot to get anywhere. Some people walk from one bay to the next but it is a hard walk. Taxies are available but can get pricey. Here is a map. Note all the switch-backs. http://www.caribbean-on-line.com/islands/bv/images/ttmap.gif
bee-ess Posted January 17, 2013 #9 Share Posted January 17, 2013 Thinking of going to Brewers Bay for the day - can anyone tell me are there any taxis there to get back to ship whenever we like, Or do we have to arrange pickup time at drop-off - don't really like that option as we don't always know how long we want to stay. Thanks
larcha Posted January 19, 2013 #10 Share Posted January 19, 2013 In a word, no. There are many taxis that will greet the ship and provide tours or trips to Brewers or other bays. Once there you are on your own until a pre-arranged pickup time. Nicole's bar at the end of the bay can call you a taxi or the campground has a phone also. There is a taxi stand over at Cane Garden Bay but Brewers is a better place to snorkel.

You arrange for the driver to return and that is normal, worst-case you call a taxi.
thyme2go Posted January 29, 2013 #12 Share Posted January 29, 2013 We were at Brewers Bay Campground in April 2012. The tents and area are much improved. The showers are about the same. No rentals of water equipment........only beach chairs at Nicole's. This beach is not for the "fast and furious" beach lover.......:)
blue_water Posted January 29, 2013 #13 Share Posted January 29, 2013 There is a group of 60 ppl (!) :p coming to Brewer's on Feb 7 so that's a good day to stay away...;)
janjan3839 Posted January 30, 2013 #14 Share Posted January 30, 2013 Where would you recommend us to go if we are wanting a beach on Sunday the 7th? Wanted to go to Brewers with a group of 7. Wanting chairs, food, drinks.
blue_water Posted January 30, 2013 #15 Share Posted January 30, 2013 You have 2 other options with chairs, food, & drinks Cane Garden Bay (CGB), and Long Bay Resort (LBR). CGB is where the bulk of your fellow cruisers will be. There are 6 beach bars/restaurants and jet ski rentals and chair rentals. No snorkeling to speak of. Good food and buckets of beer, CGB is the main choice. You can walk to the far end of the bay (5 min walk) if you want fewer ppl and don't mind laying on the beach. Myett's and Stanley's have a great burger, Esp Stanley's. CGB is a nice enough beach, just very crowded on ship days. We stayed at Myett's and would go to Long Bay or Smuggler's Cove (no amenities) on ship days. LBR is on a nice beach, across the road is the main resort area with a pool and small pool bar. You can get a day pass and use their pool and chairs for $20pp. For another $25 you get a burger and 2 drinks. Nice long beach on many picture postcards, walk to the right (north) end of the bay for a sandy swimming area. One other option is White Bay on Jost Van Dyke off the coast, there are several beach bars including the Soggy $ Bar, Seddy's One Love, and Ivan's Stress Free Bar. You either taxi to West End and ferry there or take a water taxi from CGB. Great beach bar day but more difficult and expensive to get to. You also have less time to relax. All beaches are free to the public. Brewer's would also be a good choice for you except for the crowd that is planning on being there. We would probably choose LBR to be away from the crowd but if you want more amenities and food and drink options CGB is your best bet. It is a nice beach and the taxi is a little cheaper than LBR. Haveva great day!
