marci22 Posted January 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2013 I noticed that last year there seemed to be a lot of price drops on different cruises the week of January 12th. (not cruises departing Jan 12, but pricing around this time last year.) I have been checking the website daily but so far nothing I've booked has dropped. I was looking at price histories on that price alert site and that date period kept popping up as the lowest prices.
Chicky2181 Posted January 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2013 Lucky you! Congrats. I wish I was that lucky. My cruise has gone up $270 per person since I booked in October.

Rare island lady Posted January 11, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2013 Thanks for sharing that information! :) Will keep checking, but right now the website won't allow pricing checks and is unavailable to research. :( Hoping to get through later maybe? sportsphotos Posted January 13, 2013 #9 Share Posted January 13, 2013 They will give you a inboard ship credit. That's how ours was done which was fine.

We booked our cruise through a cruise specialist, and I know that I can go on RCCL web site to check for a price drop, but it's all a bit confusing to be honest. I have a total price... which includes all taxes and even gratuities. I don't even know what base price to look for to even begin to compare the prices. You should have an invoice from your travel agent that breaks out all the amounts. If not, then just subtract gratuities at $11.65 per person per day ($13.90 if you are in a GS or better) and this should give you a number to compare to amount you see on Royal's web site. Your travel agent should also be able to send you Royal's Guest Copy of your booking confirmation. That will have amounts that are directly comparable to Royal's website. I was sent an email I think. I will take a look at that for a base price. :)

That's why I always write down the per person price on the invoice when I get it. That way I can tell if there is a price change later.
KorrunaKanuck Posted January 14, 2013 #14 Share Posted January 14, 2013 3 couples booked in E1 balconies and the D2 balconies are listed in the Crown & Anchor preview sale as $70 cheaper than our rate. I believe the E1 is considered a Deluxe and the D2 is Superior with a larger square footage. Would we be eligible for a credit? We've already made final payments. subtchr Posted January 14, 2013 #15 Share Posted January 14, 2013 They will give you a inboard ship credit. That's how ours was done which was fine. This is no longer correct. That used to be the policy when they allowed price drop adjustments after final payment, which is no longer the case. Now if the price drops before final payment, they will just adjust your amount due. If it drops after final payment date, your only option is a possible upgrade. The C&A sale is for new bookings, so you are probably not eligible for a credit. If your cruise is after final payment date (does not matter if you made final payment), then that's another reason for no credit. They may let you upgrade, but again, since it's a C&A sale, they usually want some additional money to upgrade.

I believe the E1 is considered a Deluxe and the D2 is Superior with a larger square footage. Would we be eligible for a credit? We've already made final payments. Probably no credits - but its definitely worth trying for an upgrade. We recently lucked out after final payment - we were booked in a D1 balcony on Oasis for our Febraury cruise; the balcony price dropped about $400 after final payment on a special sale for new bookings only - but the JS cabins also dropped in price to just $20 more than the price we paid for the D1. We called our travel agent who managed to persuade RCCL to let us upgrade to a JS for $20. We are now in a JS cabin on deck 10 and, of course, by the next day both cabin categories were back up to the "normal" prices and most cabins had been sold. We also managed to get our kids upgraded on this same cruise from a Central Park to a Boardwalk cabin right at back with a view of the Aquatheatre, everyone is pleased with the upgrades. There is never any harm in calling and asking for an upgrade if the price has dropped, you may get lucky.
