yankedog Posted January 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2013 We are taking train into the city and wondering what the cab fare is to the Carnival Splendor? We are doing this Easter morning? Will this be a problem?

gusandgidgetsmom Posted January 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2013 I have looked into a town car from there and found it to be reasonable for the 4 peopleand luggage we have. You can get a quote on their web site so it would let you know if getting a car on one of the "holiest" days of the year would be a problem. Google dial 7. Rare Got2Cruise Posted January 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2013 I doubt it will be a problem getting a car service on Easter.

nycchic12 Posted January 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2013 you will have no problems getting a car on any holiday except for NYE. You can hail a yellow right outside Penn or schedule a car service like Dial 7.
Richpontone Posted January 14, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2013 A cab ride from Penn Station to the Cruise port should cost you less than fifteen dollars which includes tip. Probably cheaper than a car service. You can easily hail a cab on the street, But remember, not to give anyone money who claims that they are a cab dispatcher. There is a scam where someone claims you have to pay the cab fare before they "dispatch" a cab for you. Saw a gullible tourist who lost fifty dollars after the "dispatcher" ran off with his money. Rare Got2Cruise Posted January 14, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Penn Station has two cab stands; one on 7th Avenue, and one on 8th Avenue. The one at 8th Avenue has more cabs waiting because it is easier for them to wait there. A cab ride from Penn Station to the Cruise port should cost you less than fifteen dollars which includes tip. rbrugler Posted January 15, 2013 #9 Share Posted January 15, 2013 Four is the max for a cab. You will need a minivan, which will not be a problem. Most NYers do not own cars, so taxi's are available 24/7 365. Short ride to the pier. Like someone said, its about 15, but you also need to tip for bags. A buck each will do. You can pay by credit card from the back seat before you leave. And oh, facing traffic as you exit the terminal, have your arm at an upward angle, with index finger pointing the same direction. Yell taxi. It works like a charm.

There's no "need" to tip for bags...although if the driver is extra helpful you certainly can tip additionally for them.
