dmwnc1959 Posted June 12, 2013 Author #4801 Share Posted June 12, 2013 Very nice. Thanks. I think their idea of putting slots at the bottom of the stairs is interesting. Just like the Vegas hotels that try to get you to walk thru the casino to get somewhere. I also now know Skywalk is not for me. Got me nauseous just looking at the photo  Go through it at night instead!
nasa1974 Posted June 12, 2013 #4802 Share Posted June 12, 2013 Hi Marty! Hope you are well! Haven't been over to your Roll Call in a while. Not like you haven't been busy or anything. I guess you guys are counting down the days until her arrival into Fort Lauderdale. :D Hi Dave, We are doing fine thanks. Yep counting the days to the 10/29 and 11/3 cruise. Getting all the information on this thread just makes it more exciting. Doing a great job, keep up the good work. I know a few folks on our roll call would like to get together with you one day to give you a proper thank you. Marty

S'villeGals Posted June 12, 2013 #4805 Share Posted June 12, 2013 Peter Knego, who's night deck shot and deluxe balcony cabin pictures we saw earlier today, has now published more of his pictures. Some I've never seen before including a picture of an Inside Stateroom: http://maritimematters.com/2013/06/totally-random-royal-pre-decking-the-royal-princess/ Dave - thank you so much for this link. While I've been resisting the urge to look at every single photo so there will still be an element of surprise in November, I'm glad that I succumbed to this link. Hope that BrooklynRussian is still following this thread to see the photos of the Owner's Suite. :)
Who Knew Posted June 12, 2013 #4806 Share Posted June 12, 2013 Peter Knego, who's night deck shot and deluxe balcony cabin pictures we saw earlier today, has now published more of his pictures. Some I've never seen before including a picture of an Inside Stateroom: http://maritimematters.com/2013/06/totally-random-royal-pre-decking-the-royal-princess/ You know, I've only ever traveled with Princess, and after all these years, I've tried a few of the different venues, etc., but after viewing these photos and all the others posted in the last few days, I think I'm going to have a FANTASTIC time trying out everything again on this ship. :D
Mom33 Posted June 12, 2013 #4807 Share Posted June 12, 2013 I have a thought on the subject of the pools. On other Princess ships with more pools, I have observed that the pools themselves are not really overcrowded, just the deck space around them with loungers. Everyone complains there aren't enough of them. We always find loungers but not necessarily by the pools. In this design on the Royal, the pools are on one deck with plenty of deck space to feel you are around the pools because they are in your line of sight. The adult pool looks to be twice the size of the terrace pool on other ships. We never felt there were too many people in that pool. :)

dchip Posted June 12, 2013 #4810 Share Posted June 12, 2013 Holy Moly. The last thing before bed, I checked this thread. Looked again as soon as I got up this morning and was behind several pages and what seemed like a hundred great photos!!!! Thanks so much for the link to Peter Knego's photos. They were wonderful!! Love the water show. We will be staying at the Bellagio this weekend celebrating our 47th wedding anniversary. The Royal Princess has colored water :D Bellagio is all white  Shogun and Mrs. Shogun, enjoy every minute of your cruise. Can't wait to hear what you think about the new ship. gracie65 Posted June 12, 2013 #4811 Share Posted June 12, 2013 Hopefully during the day they will run the fountains so people can use them to cool off. I personally would enjoy that and in some ways more than jumping into a pool. It would provide a bit more variety then just pools. :) Even if was a special thing like for 10 minutes at the top of every hour!! Kind of like a wave pool at a theme park. TorontoTL Posted June 12, 2013 #4813 Share Posted June 12, 2013 Dave, thanks for the Maritime Matters link, I've been checking it daily for his new photos, but hadn't yet checked today. There is a photo of one of the corner suites, I think people have been asking for these. I don't recall seeing a photo of a corner suite before. I'm guessing that the extra space at least partially is in the bedroom based on this photo.

I dip my toes in the pool and maybe take a quick dip!! When we booked the Royal, I was aware of the pools, Promenade deck, etc. etc. etc. We were looking to cruise on a new ship and enjoy all that she has to offer. Sometimes you just can't make comparisons. Some may feel the balconies may be too small for a UBD but look at all the wonderful new eating opportunities we have on the Royal. We will check out the Fondue, Ocean View Bar, Crab Shack and more on our B2B2B. We will save the UBD until we cruise on the Star next October in our aft balcony. Choices, there are so many choices!! There is a photo of one of the corner suites, I think people have been asking for these. I don't recall seeing a photo of a corner suite before. IN looking at that picture I was right on two counts: the extra door on the side is from the bedroom, and the flat angled corner of each deck on the aft part of Royal Princess in the aft bedroom wall. dmwnc1959 Posted June 12, 2013 Author #4817 Share Posted June 12, 2013 I kind of like the fact that the Grand Class ship pools aren't overcrowded. ;) When I was on the Ruby Princess last year there was rarely anyone ever in the pools. Even on sea days. Most everyone was sitting on the edge with their feet in the ankle deep water or in a lounger.
LouisRoederer Posted June 12, 2013 #4818 Share Posted June 12, 2013 Does anyone know if Princess would divert to another port if the Istanbul protest continues?? It seems to be calming down now so if it remains the same then I doubt there will be a cause to divert. Of course if that changes they would of course divert if it was deemed un safe to dock. SwissDave Posted June 12, 2013 #4819 Share Posted June 12, 2013 Currently in transit on my way to the UK to board on Friday. Really really looking firwad to it. I know not everything will be to my liking, e.g. Crab shack but as long as there is wine, champagne and food I will have a great time. I will be on with Shogun until Barcelona so may supplement his live from with my observations. BIG thanks to Dave for building the excitement. Good luck and calm seas to all who get to enjoy this ship over the coming weeks and months. Dave. (the swiss one)

Benzbuddy87 Posted June 12, 2013 #4821 Share Posted June 12, 2013 ... I have observed that the pools themselves are not really overcrowded, just the deck space around them with loungers. Everyone complains there aren't enough of them. We always find loungers but not necessarily by the pools. So, imagine my surprise when I see hoards of cabanas at the edge of the pool! It does not seem like proper placement. What good is it if you have to walk to another area to find a lounger? Perhaps, if the cabanas were relocated to a more private location, there would be more space for loungers by the pool. I am surprised at the lack of common sense by Princess.
