Fare Guarantee

I understand that when booking another cruise whilst onboard, Seabourn offers a Fare Guarantee ie if a lower fare is later offered for the same cruise, and you see the lower offer, you can contact Seabourn and the price you have been charged will be reduced.

My question is does Seabourn offer the same guarantee for all bookings. I understand that Silversea offers such a program.

This makes sense and means that regular passengers who want to book ahead can do so without the concern that a lower fare will later be offered and they are disadvantaged by doing so. Would seem to work for both Seabourn and their clients.

Yes secoma4 applies to all bookings made and up to final payment any booking can be refared.

That may be the case while you are still on the ship, but that is not necessarily the case AFTER you leave the ship.

That's why you have to use a specialist travel agent for your bookings- however they are initiated- and monitor fare changes. Then ask your TA to

coordinate a new, reduced invoice or an upgrade reflecting the price you are paying and then new and current fares from a price reduction.

Happy sailing!

It does depend on where you live / book from. We booked a trip later this year through a UK specialist TA shortly after the itinerary was released and the price has now dropped. As we predicted, nothing happened 'automatically' and our TA had to negotiate with Seabourn to upgrade us to the category which we could have booked now for the amount we had paid. A price drop / refund was not an option, and in the UK you cannot cancel before (or indeed after, of course!) final payment without losing your deposit so that was not a feasible option either.

That's interesting, as exactly the same has happened to me. My TA will be talking to Seabourn and I hope to be upgraded. I am not looking for a refund.

However, to me it is rather aggravating. I am sure many people would prefer to have some money back, or at least the option? We certainly would.

I should definitely like the same booking conditions as those across the Atlantic, but I am delighted that Seabourn have proved themselves to be an honourable company, by offering me an upgrade.

However most UK passengers I have met book through UK agents who receive a higher commission and rebate a nice amount of the fare. The price they pay is no possible refund of deposit in case of cancellation and no rebate in case the price is lowered. You cannot have it both ways.

I don't want it both ways, just the same as anyone else. If price reduces after FP, offer some OBC, which costs them little and if free upgrades are offered to new bookers, reward those who have booked early with similar.

I have a current Seabourn booking for a September 2013 departure and the price has reduced twice since I booked. My travel agent got the price reduced on both occasions.

I am an Adelaide person too!

Hi Cruising Kirby, glad to hear you had your fare reduced. I have not seen you on a roll call yet. We are also cruising Seabourn in September. I wonder if you are sailing on the Legend? We embark on the 5th Sep in Monte Carlo for 20 days Cruising, our first with Seabourn.

We also have Guarantee fares, it would be nice to be upgraded.

Hi Koalapanda,

We are on the Odyssey, departing Venice on 21 September. 14 nights. I have booked a V5 midship cabin. I haven't looked at the roll calls yet, must get on to that!

I have also booked a 20 day Seabourn cruise for 2014, fully anticipating that I will love my first Seabourn cruise this year!

Hi cruising Kirby,

Don't forget to ask for a voucher for room credit around final payment time. I am not far away from you so will look out for your request!

Cheers
