Hello Angela - how the heck are you. Was in Paso recently and a lot of the tasting rooms around the square are gone. Also just heard that Wilson's closed, that's historic. Anyway the LA Cafe is were our c.c. roll call members plan on meeting in St. Croix for a little banana drink before we all head back on board. Nice to know you can get them onboard also. Hope to cruise with you again sometime. :D

I tried responding to a couple of your post but they were probably lost....Wilson's closed this past Sunday. The family had owned it for generations. The area around Wilson's really isn't the greatest. Too many bad characters have moved into the area.

During the last two year the economy has been really hard on the local wineries. Arroyo Robles had a huge tasting room across from the downtown park now they are in a little tiny spot down Park Street.

John and I will try to leave the Adventure in one piece for you!:D:D

And just in case you are wondering what the lights are that you see out there, Carnival Valor is off your port side on its way to Barbados and Celebrity Equinox is off your port bow a few miles ahead of you on its way to St. Kitts.

Enjoy St. Maarten tomorrow. Any chance that you are going out to Maho to get sand blasted by a 747 taking off?

Monday evening 6:20 PM (Eastern Standard Time). Adventure is about 15 miles off of the north coast of St. Croix on a heading of 81 degrees and cruising at 8 knots.

That was for you, Robyn.;)

Wow......you really are taking very good care of me  oh....and my ship.

Too funny - just before I came down to deck 8 and the internet, I was on my balcony looking at all the pretty lights wondering where we were as we have been sailing for hours :D We saw the Valor in San Juan - they watched us sail away.....

Good evening from the beautiful Adventure of the Seas, sailing just off the coast of St. Croix :) A special thanks to my personal navigational expert and co-owner of this thread......Ocean Boy :p

We had a wonderful day ashore - havin said that, I will say that while we had a great day, St. Croix is not one of my favorite islands. We took a taxi over to Christiansted ($16 round trip, 30 minute ride) and the drive was not scenic at all. We spent our time at Christiansted at the harbor, enjoying the sunshine, watching boats sail and of course indulging in a Carib beer or two  There is little to no shopping, unless you are simply looking for souvenirs. I will say though that the water is the most spectacular shade of turquoise - almost rivaling St. Maarten. Almost. We were back onboard by about 2pm and spent the rest of the day at the pool soaking up the sun, listening to the pool band and maybe a bit of line dancing!

There is no strawberry daiquiri mix onboard and passengers are freaking out! Hard to believe, but unfortunately there have been a few shortages last week and now this week too......I wonder if there is a new Quartermaster? LOL Still no escargot - word on the street is that they are sourcing a new supplier? In it's place they have come up with a crab and salmon thingy in the same dish as escargot, I tried it last week and it didn't make my top 10. Having said that, the food is still really good and we enjoyed our dinner in the MDR tonight.

Tonight I will once again try my luck at the casino since it is formal night and non-smoking.....life of luxury better be good to me!!! There is also gambling with the cruise director at 10:15pm and last week I won a cool prize, so I'm trying again.

Tomorrow is our favorite island of St. Maarten. My DH will be off the ship as early as possible and will rent us a jeep for the day. We will head over to Mullet Bay, which is in fact just next door to Maho, which is next door to the airport where Ocean Boy suggested we get our heads blown off by low flying planes  LOL We will enjoy the beach and then go over to Front Street for some amazing shopping before heading back onboard in the late afternoon.

Today we received an invitation to dine with the Captain and Hotel Director for lunch on the last sea day (there is no Captain's dinner this cruise, just this lunch) I don't think we will be attending this time...we want to be in full relaxation mode on our last day at sea, however we are honored to have been asked.

Thanks again for following along - I am really enjoying this and I hope you are too!!!

Real sad about Wilson's - our son-in-law worked there when he was in high school, Ed's son also worked there right after high school and his grandson worked there also during high school - so we have a little bit of family tie to Wilson's.

Thanks for trying to leave Adventure in on piece, that would be nice. I havn't been on this ship or this route before and we are really looking forward to it - enjoy your cruise :D

I have NEVER heard of a cruise without strawberry daiquiris. :eek:They should be ashamed.

Marine Traffic shows you in St. Maarten. Indy is in Grand Cayman.

Have a great day! This is my favoprite island also.

I think the Valor is in the same port with you somewhere along the way. I was looking up CruiseTT for ours in 4 weeks. The kids would call the Valor "creeping on you" :D LOL

Please let us know also how the Jeep rental was and how much it costs. We're in St Maarten in exactly a month with no shore excursions planned. Considering any and all options

We do not like St Croix, either. It is a pain to get from one end og the island to the other. Also, the beaches are very rocky and not the nicest. An OK stop.

One plus for me --was that I bought my caftan that I use as a bathing suit cover up on the cruise dock. There were several good vendors there.

St. Maarten is a very easy island to rent and do your own thing. Driving is on the right side of the road as in the States and except for parking in Phillipsburg and Marigot (the two capitols) driving is not a hassle at all.

Strawberry daiquiris are my favourite. It's the only alcohol I have, and I look forward to having them. I hope they get some mix in soon. I even enjoy having a virgin daiquiri in the afternoon by the pool.

Hopefully they will hear the complaints and fix it before you go. ;)

Adventure is on the move. It is about a quarter of the way between St. Maarten and St. Bart's and on it way to Antigua. Presently cruising at 6.8 knots on a heading of 131 degrees. No other cruise ships in the near vacinity as of now.

If you see lights off of the port side tonight that look like an island it should be St. Bart's.

When I was on board the House wine was 'La Terre'. It was not good. JMO.

Thanks I had read that but find it unbelievable that they would only offer 1? I wonder why they don't let you have any thay serve by the glass up to a certain value? I'm sure some of the mixed shorts would cost more:)

Very good question, and even more puzzling when you consider that their other cruise line (Celebrity) does let you have wine up to a certain value per glass in their package.

Thanks for the review of St Croix, we had thought about going to the otherside of the island, but will just stay around the ship and check that area out. Have to check out LA Berts Cafe for some Dirty Banana's ;)

Hope they get the strawberry daiquiri situation fixed - a lot of unhappy cruisers!

Looking forward to your St Maarten reveiw...

I did have the adventure booked for the week of Thanksgiving. But I changed it to the jewel of the seas because that looks like it has a better itinerary. Ironically it goes to St. Croix which many of you don't like. I've never been there and I guess I will find out for myself. The jewel does go to Martinique and I've never been there either so that will be cool
