Carnival Corp Shareholder Benefits

I get the confirmation from the TA,who gets it from HAL. It is aprinted up form of the whole cruise.

There is NO doubt the TA send the paperwork to HAL. The ship does not honor the confirmation. A problem is; if you use a TA;they (ship and Seattle) do NOT want to be bothered with you and resent you meddling between them and the TA.

A few years ago,one HAD to forward the shareholders shipboard credit through a travel agent. The proxy now says you can do without a TA. I ;however, find HAL pretty haughty to individuals and I believe I have better (not succesful but better) luck when using a TA which they prefer.

I may be the only person with this problem It is ;however, my experience of many cruises . Also,I am not someone with just 100 shares.

I have always faxed a copy of my proof of CCL stock ownership directly to HAL, and not through a TA. Never have had a problem. I take a copy of the proof with me. I check with the Front Desk after embarking and the credit has always been there. Although, after reading this thread, I will call HAL after the fax is sent to get confirmation. The stock credit is well worth it IMO. We will receive a $250 credit on our next cruise. :)

If I had the continual problem you are reporting, I would try sending the proof of ownership directly to Seattle. Every single person who has posted they do it that way has also posted they don't have any problems.

Your credit, your time, your choice.

BUY it TODAY! At 37.20 the price is not bad (IMO) and if you buy it BEFORE Feb 20 you get a dividend of 25 cents (it goes x-dividend on Feb 20, so you basically luck out with your timing). Plus you get a $1 (or more if they increase it) per share in dividends per year.

Dave, I'm not sure I am understanding you. Isn't the .25 cents dividend part of the $1, per share, yearly dividend? You said "Plus you get a $1 or more..." I was thinking that the .25 quarterly dividend was 1/4 of the $1.00 annual dividend. No?

I would not do it through my TA. I would do it personally with my booking number clearly states in the fax. And I certainly would follow up myself, not rely on a statement from my TA. If HAL has it in their system when you call for clarification, I would assume it is there when you board. They certainly don't want to tick off cruisers so they won't book again. They have gone out of their way to assure me of my credits.

Yes, you can combine credits from different sources. The stock credit can be used for anything but casino play, including gratuities. This also was confirmed by the World Cruise department

Yes, the dividend is part of the $1 annual, but in this case example, if you held the stock for one year and one week, you would get 5 dividends (25 cents each). Plus any gain would be a long term one.

Further, if you are just playing the stock short term (like a month) it is nice to get a quick dividend.

Thanks for the clarification. Appreciate it.

What type of documentation is needed for HAL? Would a couple of my brokerage statement be sufficient, would appropriate items blacked out such as account number and other holdings?

Thanks Bill

They need either the purchase receipt from your broker or the a copy of the stock certificate. What needs to be included in the fax:

Date purchased

Shareholders name

Number of shares purchased/held

Booking number

Price is down a bit over the past week due to the Carnival bad news, but IMO this will soon pass (like it did last year after that disaster).

Be sure to buy at least 100 shares. And, if you want, you can sell covered calls on your position to earn even more return (ask your broker about this).

Thanks Dave,

I've placed order for 100 shares and will check with broker again on covered calls.

So I can put my brother's name on my stock if I buy it. We probably Will never travel together. If I am thinking you get a reward every time you cruise? So If I cruised 14 day cruise 3 or 4 times a year I would get 250 each cruise ( I wish) same with my brother if I put his name on the stock.

Thanks

I think the name on the stock needs to be the same name as the person cruising.

You can certainly combine OBC from CCL stock with other sources of OBC. For our upcoming cruise we will get $250 from the CCL stock and $200 from our TA. On our Zaandam cruise last April we failed to get the OBC for CCL stock. After the cruise I complained to our TA and she found out that HAL admitted that they dropped the ball. So HAL added the $250 to what we have for the upcoming cruise and added $150 for the insult!! So this cruise we will start with $900 OBC!:D

Who gets stock certificates these days? Isn't the brokerage statement or the confirmation of transaction issued by the broker sufficient?

We also booked through a TA. Fax number is: (206)281-0627. ATTN: WCR(world cruise services). Make sure: Name, date of purchases and number of shares is circled. Also include your booking number. You can phone world cruise services to confirm OBC. They confirmed total from all sources
We did not book through HAL - we used a TA, and faxed in the information ourselves. Is there a place on the HAL website where we could see that the OBC was posted?
No, since you used a TA, If you booked through HAL, then Yes, under your booking number and details.

Sorry, I should have clarified - we have already faxed in the paperwork - I was looking for something online to show the OBC on our account.
