Spudder Posted March 21, 2013 #178 Share Posted March 21, 2013 I thought I had read that there is an automatic 15% gratuity added to the $49.40/day. I don't see anything about that in your post... Is the 15% included in the $49.40 or is the actual cost per day $56.81? Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this! Jenni The $49.40 includes the gratuity... SNJCruisers Posted March 21, 2013 #179 Share Posted March 21, 2013 The itinerary that was posted when this comment was posted is the same as my upcoming 4 day Victory. So...is the cheers program offered on all Victory cruises or only the 5+ day ones?? It's available on the Victory...when I made that statement , I was not aware of any 4 day sailings on that ship, only 5+ ones, so it should be available on your sailing. Enjoy...we sure did on the Breeze.
SNJCruisers Posted March 21, 2013 #180 Share Posted March 21, 2013 Now I'm wondering if the Cheers program includes drinks at the rum and tequila bars, as long as they are under $10? Wasn't sure if they were excluded because they're sort of "specialty" bars. It is good at any bar on the ship, for any drink under 10 bucks. The only exceptions are the automatic wine dispensers, any drink with a specialty glass, mini bar drinks and drinks ordered from room service. jgbusymom Posted March 21, 2013 #182 Share Posted March 21, 2013 The $49.40 includes the gratuity... Thanks! p.s. I think it would be fair of Carnival to throw this in for free for anyone on the Legend next week that's interested - compensation for the headache & heartache from last minute itinerary changes!! jordan1608 Posted March 22, 2013 #184 Share Posted March 22, 2013 My husband and I just got off of the Victory 3/18/13 and here is what we encountered with the Cheers Program (and this was a 4-day cruise): 1) They tell you upfront that you WILL BE cut off at 15 drinks in a 24-hour period (6 a.m. - 6 a.m.). We saw this happen several times. 2) You will NOT be able to purchase drinks after this 15. Period 3) It covers any drinks up to $10 (except for the special drinks in cups, etc as has already been addressed in this thread). 4) If you order a double of any type of drink (i.e. double jack and coke, etc). This will count as TWO drinks. We witnessed a guy finding this one out the hard way. 5) My husband also received a free drink card in the casino. While this is only good for while you are gambling in the casino, the pit boss informed my husband that these drinks will NOT county against the 15 on the Cheers program. Hope this helps someone. We came out ahead by using this program and will definitely purchase it again on our next cruise!:D

QUESTION: I heard servers don't help us as much because the tips are pre-determined, is this true? ANSWER: If you think your servers are avoiding you, or being slow to help you, be sure to talk to the staff on-board about the issue. While I was not told the tipping policy, Amber at Carnival suggested that servers tips are "probably" based on the number of drinks they sold, not the cost of the drink. Hi We have just booked a Baltic 12 day cruise this morning for July 27th and this post is a godsend as we were unsure of the drinks prices or as we put it, the money extorted by the cruise line. This has made our minds up to smuggle. Especially when they charge $30.00 for a wine costing $12.00 in the supermarket plus they rob you of 15% per drink for a tip. These morons never get that if they had reasonable prices they would sell more. Better to sell 10 beers at $4.00 than no beers at all.:mad:

Mickey1125 Posted March 25, 2013 #187 Share Posted March 25, 2013 If case you don't have it already, the number for Bon Voyage is 800-522-7648. With regards to rum, the choices are all 1 liter and Bacardi, Bacardi Limon, Bacardi Oakheart and Captain Morgan are all 65.00 and Gosling's Black Seal is 60.00. Thanks for the Bon Voyage number! wow, $65!?! Perhaps I will resort to smuggling- partially kidding. lol. But still not sold on the cheers program. Vegasgreg19 Posted March 25, 2013 #188 Share Posted March 25, 2013 Based off what I have read in this thread, here is what we are going to do: We are going with our two kids (Ages 15 and 18). We have two cabins (One for us and one for them) but we had to have an adult registered for each cabin. We didn't think we both could do 15 drinks a day or at least enough to get our moneys worth. So I am going to get the Cheers program (only have to buy one because my wife is registered to another cabin) and we will "share" it. I know officially, we can't share but I can go get her a Pina Colada, wait five minutes and go get me a beer. Plus she is a big soda drinker and since those are unlimited, I can order a soda (Unlimited and doesn't count towards the 15 drinks daily) and give it to her, wait five minutes and go get me a beer! Sounds like a good plan to me!

If you're going to cheat the system.....you had better not be doing all of your ordering at the same bar or two. They do track how often you drink and what you're drinking. I had been drinking the same thing for 4 straight drinks, changed it up to get a basic rum and coke from a different server at the same bar and when the regular server came back for my next drink, she admonished me, basically knowing I had given the rum & coke away. They are like Big Brother...they make the rules and they do enforce the rules.
