Northern Lights . . . .

It seems as though the Northern Lights "disco" isn't that popular. Has anyone else noticed that or am I the only person who notices a large space with no one there?

I think the space could be better utilized as a martini/craft cocktail bar with lots of Rat Pack music in the background.

. . . but that's just me.

We aren't big fans but have stopped in a number of times on various ships. Sometimes we've found a nice crowd and other times dead quiet. It varies. We like sitting at that bar sometimes but never in the other part of the room.

If there is a lot of smoke coming from Sports Bar, as sometimes happens, Casino or as used to happen smoke at Northern Lights bar, then we have to leave immediately.

I gather that the Sports Bar and Northern Lights are now non-smoking. That is sure to please some and displease others!

What a great idea for a Martini/Craft Cocktail Bar. I know that Celebrity has done away with their disco and they have younger clientel. I agree that HAL was attempting to have something for the "younger" crowd, but, it's obvious it hasn't worked. The times we have been in there has been with crew members.

I am a 27 year old female that enjoys to dance and have a good time with a few fellow people my age on cruises personally I have found that the crappy DJ's are the reason why no one is in Northern Lights.

The last cruise I was on the DJ left the music on autoplay and left to do ??? he then would return every half hour or so to check in. When he was there and we would ask for songs he would sometimes play them, sometimes not. He then would often leave early and put the music on auto play for the rest of the night saying he had an early morning.

I understand that the DJ holds many hats and have long hours but I find it unacceptable to walk away, put the music on auto play, not play requests and then shut down early because he has an early morning. (which BTW the DJ told me personally that was why he was leaving)

I also understand HAL is not Carnival and not aimed towards the young crowd, which is fine by me I appreciate the formal sit down dinners and other class that it offers but I think they should provide a bit better service in NL for those of us who do want to hang out late at night.
