Speakers on Board

When the Park Rangera and naturalist are on board speaking are you able to hear them throughout the ship? Or only out on decks? How about on balconies?

Don't know which cruiselines you're asking about, but on our HAL cruises, we could hear the ranger on deck, in the lounges, and in our room on the TV. On our balcony, only if we kept the door open.

The Park Rangers only pertain in Glacier Bay, no it is not broadcasted on balconies. You would need to have your door open and tv turned up. They do not narrate much, if at all on the way out. For your commentary to match up with what you are seeing you need a port viewing side balcony. But it is grossly superior to get complete expansive views from the decks.

Not sure what your naturalist comment is- but they offer programs you go to, and narrate Hubbard and Tracy Arm. They usually do not broadcast otherwise.

On the Star Princess last May, when we were heading up the Fjord (not Tracy Arm, we couldn't make it in), the naturalist was on the TVs and external speakers. Once we hit a certain point, he was on the TVs only due to the noise bothering the wildlife.

They do on Princess - there's a sailaway commentary from at least every port, including Glacier Bay, and those are broadcast in the normal places including the tv.

Not always, I sailed 3 cruises last year, and none had "port" commentaries leaving. I noted- usually- in the post.

Consistantly- with at least 20 Glacier Bay sailings the bulk of the commentary is on the way in.
