Azamara Cabins Thread

UKtog, thank you so much for your hard work in putting this all together, it's extremely useful.

I just found out on Friday night that our cabin on the Journey next year mysteriously changed from 7085, confirmed when we paid our deposit in August, to 7089. I can't contact our agent until Monday but am not pleased at all because the new cabin is right by the elevators and I'm a very light sleeper. I would never pick a location by the elevators.

Other posters have reviewed cabins around that area and say noise isn't an issue but I'm going to try hard to get moved.

The exception is one poster who said that 7091 and 7093 had loud humming noises; those are right next to our newly assigned cabin 7089. There is a white 'space' on the deck plan between 7089 and 7091, does anyone know what that is, and if it would maybe deaden the humming noise?

And has anyone else had this happen, where the confirmed and paid for cabin just gets changed without any notice from their agent or Azamara? Any hints on how to proceed would be welcome!

SUITE QUESTION:

The Club Continent Suite description states 'bathtub'. Does this mean no shower, not even an over-the-bath type?

No, it's a combined tub/shower with a shower head that can be used fixed or hand-held.

Apologies folks, I have been away really enjoying the delights on Azamara, so some tasks, like updating this spreadsheet got a little lost. Before the holidays take over, I thought I had better get on with things, so here is the spreadsheet capturing all the cabin updates up to today

Just returned from Dec. 8 cruise in Cabin 8093 Aft. Enjoyed the larger veranda, however, reclining chairs would be more useful for the size, there was some soot, but cabin attendants were attentive.

There was a major problem in controlling the temperature in the cabin. The thermostat control did not work properly, the first three days/nights in Charleston were quite cold and we had to call maintenance several times to warm up the cabin, it was actually frigid. To the contrary when we reached the West Indies islands we experienced very warm temps, maintenance seemed able to fix it again. Heard others on board were also having climate-control problems.

Would we book this cabin again -- no.

We booked a Guarantee Veranda for 12/8/13 on the Quest and were assigned this cabin within 3 days of booking. We were very pleased and would actually ask for this cabin again due to location, etc.

We like it very cool and the A/C was able to keep up until we reached Labadee, Haiti and we were on the sunny side of the ship all day. As others were also using the air, it didn't work as well as we wanted but cooled off very well at night. NOTE: we like the A/C at 65 at night, 70 during the day, which is much cooler than most people. The air maintenance man who came to our cabin twice in 12 days was very knowledgeable and fixed our issues right away.

As this cabin and 7090 and 7092 have been mentioned as having some noise issues due to the ship's smokestack, I have to say we heard it also but it was not a problem for us as we had the A/C on most all the time.

In November- December, 2013, we enjoyed 6059 on the Jouney. It is an accessible verandah cabin and very comfortable. Close to the elevator but quiet. Straight down to the dining room or Mosaic, and straight up to the library. I used my four wheel walker most of the time but my cane often also, because everywhere I wanted to go was so close.

One of the advantages on Azamara is that after the refit the doors have two places to unlock the door. One for a complete swing in that closes slowly so a wheelchair or scooter would have plenty of time to enter, and the second lock which acts exactly like every other cabin door on the ship. Very convenient.

In the spirit of moving forward, I would like to offer to help with some information on this board and maybe if it works, Andy would be happy to make a sticky out of the thread

On the Celebrity board, there is a very useful spreadsheet kept up to date by one of the cruisers where others can search for information on a cabin. Here on Azamara, we have to try and search and trawl for information and I am offering to create and maintain with say forthnightly updates a similar spreadsheet.

For it to work, everyone has to post information in a consistent way and also only use the thread to post information, not to engage in debate (pop over to the Celebrity board if you want to see more on how it works)

For Azamara, I would suggest the information should be

Cabin Number 8001

Ship Quest

Month/Year sailed Dec 2013

Would you choose this room again Y/N No

Is noise an issue Y/N No

Balcony size Normal/Larger/Smaller Normal

Any other comments (keeping these succinct so the spreadsheet does not grow too much) Need rounded corners on tables on balcony, cabins really need to be updated. very front of ship, can get rocky.

How do others feel about this - if you think we do not need it here, please say, I will not be offended!!!!

This is useful information

Cabin Number - 6061

Ship - Quest

Month/Year sailed - October 2013

Would you choose this room again Y/N - NO

Is noise an issue Y/N - No

Balcony size Normal/Larger/Smaller - Normal

Any other comments - a problem with the ship's vent directly below this cabin made it impossible to use the balcony in port or at sea. The Guest Relations and Engineering Officers met with us several times onboard and agreed that the smell was intolerable. We were moved to a Continent suite for the last two days of the nine day cruise.

We requested a refund of the difference between our verandah cabin and an oceanview cabin for the seven nights we couldn’t use balcony; that sounded fair to us. We love morning coffee on the verandah, reading outside and enjoying a glass of wine before dinner, so we were saddened when we couldn’t step outside.

After two months and a lot of prodding Azamara will not provide a refund. They will credit us with the same amount to be used within one year.

We are not annual cruisers, and we feel this isn’t the right way to treat a customer. Azamara is standing firm so we will part company as unhappy customers.

Be advised that Azamara Journey does not have a cabin #6061. The similar location on Journey would be #6059 since the Journey has the disabled cabins on starboard side instead of port as on the Quest.

There are no negative comments on #6059 of the Journey,- That said: The poster has obviously had some serious problems during his occupancy and had this confirmed by staff visiting the cabin during the cruise. IMHO Azamara could have met the customer with a refund or unconditional credit.

Somehow I feel that guest relations aboard is not as free agents as we should have wished them to be. I suppose that they would have upgraded these clients immediately but were inhibited by the fact that they needed OK from Miami by doing so. Just speculations. ;)

I would find your cabin spreadsheet very useful. I have just booked - first cruise - and been allocated cabin 8002. Has anyone stayed in this cabin?

I was concerned about the large blanked-out area on Deck 8 right by my cabin. I presume these are service areas/crew quarters?? Would this intrude on my

peace and quiet in any way??

Any information gratefully received.

advance thanks

LondonLinda

Stayed in 6017 (balcony room) on Journey in August 2009

Above the cabaret lounge - experienced booming bass sounds the first afternoon as the band were practicing and thought we would have to ask to be moved but after that heard nothing. During the evening when the band were playing we were either at dinner or enjoying the entertainment. Everything was quiet by 11pm. If someone liked to rest in the room during the day it might not be the best choice.

Stayed in 4020 (oceanview room) on Journey in October 2008

Great room, no noise. Opposite medical facility but never heard a thing. Would choose again.

Will be in 4034 (accessible room) on Quest October 2014. Any input from

anyone who has stayed in this room would be appreciated.

Lynne :)

Stayed in 4019 (ocean view) on the Quest. Very convenient location close to the elevator and stairs, but no noise from either. It was a short hop to the theater and the casino bar. Of course, given the size of the ship, nothing was very far away. We were never bothered by noise form the theater.

This cabin is directly above the tender gangway on deck 3. At the one tender port we visited the noise from the gangway did wake us up early. The benefit was that we had a ring-side view to watch the pilots arrive and depart while the ship was underway on the Mississippi River. Also, there is an outside flood light directly above the window, making the blackout curtains necessary.
