Unscented or Scented cleaning products?

The Eclipse cleaners work around the clock polishing the beautiful ship.

A major consideration for choosing our next vacation is unscented cleaning products.

As the cruise gets longer the scented cleaning products add to the excess of passenger perfumes and is overwhelming.

Would love to have " no perfume" areas like they have "no smoking" areas....some of that stuff makes you gag! I often wonder why some folks feel the need to use so much....perhaps to cover up a lack of personal hygiene?

I really struggle with highly scented products ( or perfumes) as well and can honestly say I have never had an issue on Celebrity. Recently been on the Constellation and the Eclipse and no issues, can't say for other ships.

Well, there have been threads about rude passengers.

My 2 cents worth is that the excessive use of perfume is rude behavior.

We have not noticed strong scents from the cleaning products in better class hotels. I'd like to see the Celebrity line differentiate itself from a Las Vegas Casino that is trying to mask the smells of smoke, people, spilled booze, and dirt.

Celebrity has higher class people, no smoking indoors, and appears spotless. Time to consider the fragrance-free and hypo-allergenic products for laundry, surface cleaning, and carpet shampoos.

On Eclipse recently, ship engineers took covers off the hvac system in hallways to vacuumed ducts and change filters. Good job, as they were clogged.

Next step for me, with asthma: sleep on side away from the drapes, and get the bed pillows our of the cabin. (oops! an aside added to this thread.) Sorry.

I have not noticed any particular smells at all from Celebrity cleaning products, with the exception of when there is a code red due to noro and they are using bleach all over.

I want to add a point to the comment about people using too much perfume being rude, or whatever the exact words were. I notice this most often (not always) on older women. Heaven knows it applies to our 80+ year old family members we have traveled with. Physiologically, the sense of smell gets worse as one ages. People in that age range may honestly not realize that the scent is so strong, as to them it smells just right. This is not an insult to older people - it is just a physical fact. I think also what happens is that especially right before dinner hours, people have just come from the shower and they have just recently applied the scent. Scents are always strongest when first applied, and may be perfectly fine 30 minutes later. I confess I hate it to, but sometimes there are logical explanations.:)

I disagree. Like the other poster said, older ladies don't realise how overpowering they smell becuase they can't smell it. My MIL uses a famous matching "set" of products; during bath, lotion and perfume. We gently tried to tell her it is tooooo much. Thankfully she understood. :)
