Airport is 10 minutes from the pier
ravenraisin Posted April 23, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted April 23, 2013 That's good to hear I was a little concerned with so many passengers on board, having to go through customs then the FAA furlough issue with long lines at the airport definitely don't want to miss the flight!
molly361 Posted April 23, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2013 Noon for sure. We walked off at 6:30 am on our past 3 Oasis/Allure cruises

powelweb Posted April 23, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 23, 2013 We were on Oasis for the 4/6 sailing. We did express disembarkation and got in line at 6am for the process which was supposed to start at 6:15 (and there was already a long line), but it went quickly once 6:15 actually arrived. It also helped that we each did one suitcase and one carryon so that we were able to whisk quickly down the escalator instead of having to wait in line for the elevator- you have to have one hand free to hold the railing. We were clearing customs at 6:30 and at FLL at 6:45. If Miami is 20-30 minutes away, I think you'd be fine doing express disembarkation with plans to be first off the ship, and grabbing a taxi. leaveitallbehind Posted April 23, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 23, 2013 MIA is at least 45 minutes from FLL and you will need to allow time as well to make whatever connections you will need from the pier to the shuttle to MIA. Quick math says that to play it safe you probably need to be at MIA by around 10:30 for a noon flight, which means in the shuttle and on your way from the pier or FLL not later than 9:30. You'll need to see what the schedules, etc., are with the shuttles in order to plan around that timeline accordingly unless you are taking a private car service or taxi. redcrown Posted April 23, 2013 #8 Share Posted April 23, 2013 We are flying from Miami airport not Ft Lauderdale. Just got off the Allure, did self disembarkation. Left the cabin at 6:45 and was outside at 6:55. We had a car service pick us up. Since it was a Sunday, only took 30 minutes to get to MIA, Saturday may take a wee bit longer. So I would think that you would be ok for a Noon flight.
cruisedd Posted April 23, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 23, 2013 How hard is it to grab a cab to the airport (FLL)? Long lines or not?
Clarea Posted April 23, 2013 #10 Share Posted April 23, 2013 How hard is it to grab a cab to the airport (FLL)? Long lines or not? Our experience has been very easy. Even when we need a minivan taxi, the wait has been less than 5 minutes.
