So I 've just noticed the amount of posts is ticking to 400 & i haven't set sail once!!

The good news is that i would consider myself organised (you think??) & that i will be as ready as I can be in February for my first ever Celebrity cruise!

Does anyone esle do this much planning / research before a cruise? Make me feel better..... :o

Only our 3rd cruise! 1st cruise very little planning as it was only a 3 nighter. Found CC in 2009 and used it somewhat to study up on Alaskan excursions--which all turned out very well. Have used CC a lot more for our Med cruise this May. For me the cruise is very little about the ship---I care more about the ports, so try and read more about them.

Sorry, but my first cruise predated the internet by about 25 years so it wasn't possible for me to do same.;)

As to being too organized, well, just don't forget to relax once on board.

Have a great cruise, and enjoy the anticipation.:D

I'll be doing my 16th cruise in Jan. It gets to be like falling off a log the more you cruise. My TA, a relative, booked our first one for us because we had no clue about anything. She did a good job and since then I have researched and chosen the cruises and she booked them for me. Packing is sort of mindless now and I don't need a list.

DH and I did 8 cruises in 6 yrs and I am coming up on the 8th without him. I have been fortunate to find friends and relatives to go with me. I know he's glad I am still going strong after he passed away a little over 4 1/2 yrs ago.

Life is too short to stop cruising. Planning and anticipation are at least half the fun! 39 1/2 weeks to go till Silouette Jan. 26th.

It all depends. For our first cruise I heard a ad on the radio. Called and made a reservation and then called my wife and told her that I booked a 21 day Hawaii cruise tour, see if you can get the time off as we are leaving in a month. Not much planning, survived and had a great time.

Everyone does planning and some just go to extremes. I worked with one person that planned a trip to Disney World. They made made all the arrangements and then booked another round trip flight to Oralndo a few weeks before for a trail run to make sure that they would know what to do for their trip.

I don't have as many posts as you do, but I consider myself a plan-aholic for trips. I've been on here for like a year in anticipation of my first cruise that we're leaving for this Saturday (!!), and I'm on here pretty much every day, sometimes a couple times a day. I don't do a lot of posting, but I lurk a lot. :D

I plan any trip that we go on. To this day, one of my best friends told me that the best tour of Europe she was ever on while they were living there was the trip that I planned (we had lived there 20 years prior). I always know what I want to do, what it's going to cost and the amount of time we have to devote to it if we want to see other things. I do the same thing with cruising. I read this group and another one, find things about the destinations on the net. Certainly nothing wrong with getting information and planning is a lot of fun!:D

I booked three cruises last minute for me(under three months before sailing). My best cruises were the ones on Celebrity that I booked one to two years out and researched and read reviews on Cruise Critic. I am bout to book one this week that I've been researching for two years. It doesn't hurt to make plans. I am a planner and I enjoy making plans for my cruises.

This made me laugh - I can only imagine myself trying to justify a 'mini' cruise to test the waters before our hoenymoon. lol. FI woudl kill me!!

LOL, I wonder if they had a lot of planning for that trip.:D

As for too much organisation, can't happen, just do not let it ruin/takeover your holiday when it goes pear shaped. I was organising so many things for future cruises on my wife's CC account that she kicked me off and told me to start my own.:D

Nothing like a test run. Love it. My wife might have been game but I don't think it would have went over very well back in the 60's.

Things have changed today. My SIL went to a casino and booked a room so her daughter and her boyfriend could spend the night when she turned 18 in Windsor, Ontario. You can drink at 18 in Windsor. She had a comp or a discounted rate plus I think you have to be a certain age to book a room.
