How to get from Rome airport to Civitavecchia

I'm new to cruising, not sure if this is a daft question or not but, how do we get from the airport in rome ( not sure if there's more than one ), to the port of Civitavecchia. We booked this holiday through our local travel agent and were under the impression there were coach transfers to and from the port but there's no confirmation of this on our booking form.

First, you need to confirm or deny you have transfers. Don't want to be double booking.

Second, you will want to go over to the Italy board, where all the options are extensively discussed. Coming from another Europen country, you need to confirm what airport you are flighting into, as there are two airports you could fly into.

FCO is between Civitavecchia and Rome. It is about an hour or so from the port depending upon traffic.

There are some very good private car companies that people recommend as reliable. You may wish to go to the port of call forum and read/ask there or you may wish to see if your TA can purchase airport transfer for you from your cruise line.

If you booked your air through the cruise line, that would usually include transfer to the ship or hotel, if you booked that through them.

Not exactly. FCO is actually west and slightly south of Rome, on the coast. Civitavecchia is north of both Rome and FCO about an hour's drive. Think of it as a tall thin triangle, where Rome and FCO are the two base points, and Civi is at the top pointy end of the triangle.

No, it is not a clearly straight line but the point is approximate. :)

Huh? :)

Actually, as the roads go, I thought FCO was between Rome and Civit....

The fastest route (on the autostrada) from downtown Rome to Civitavecchia takes you within four miles of FCO airport. It's not the most direct route, but a straighter line on local roads would only save you about five miles (from a fifty mile trip).
