Gambee ... we are booked in cabin 12904 on Getaway in October 2014. A bit worried about the privacy if I am in the bath, or having a shower. Not bothered about my partner and son seeing me from the balcony but don't want the people from cabin 12906 to beable to look over and get an eyeful!! I know that the windows are angled in the bathroom to give more privacy. I know you were in cabin 12906. Was it possible to see inside the cabin? (be careful what you say ... it was a cc member that was staying in this cabin when you were onboard the Breakaway ..... don't want to reveal too much

Ok let me see how I can go by this. Please note that it was not like I was purposely trying to look into their cabin, or invade their privacy. All you have to do is stand by the railing turn your head slightly and you can see their balcony. All of the windows and doors are tinted except the bathroom one. That bathroom only has the tub in there. The shower is in an inside bathroom and you will be fine. Also when I was in Shaun's room I noticed that there is a curtain that you can lower in the tub window and you're totally private. However that might block the view, but I am not sure.

No, I never saw then in there, but then again I really never looked other than in day one and one other occasion. It was one night when I was taking pictures of the moon that was directly above us and I noticed the light in the bathroom was on. And it was a clear view into the bathroom. That is when I thought that if the curtain is not lowered then there is a privacy issue.

Really unless there curious children or a peeping Tom in the room next to you, you should be fine. Everyone in our sailing just kept to their own balcony. No need to go bothering your neighbors.

But you should be just fine, that is what the contain is there for. No worries.

the infamous Manhattan with the last "a' replaced.

BUT - they still have it wrong. What is marked Manhattan is really New Jersey and the sliver of unmarked area should be marked Manhattan!

lol.

I hope the divider didn't break on that balcony, like I read about on some other balconies. Must have been a really rough ride back to NY.

Love, love, love that picture of the chandelier. All your pics are great, but that is so beautiful.

I don't think I will really mind my cruise being cancelled. I will be on this cruise. A new ship, a great photographer and will probably see more of Bermuda than I would have on my own cruise. And not gain any weight either...:p;)

Thanks,

Gwen

Gambee, thanks for all of your time and effort to put together this fantastic verbal and pictorial review. My wife and I will be on the Breakaway in October, first time on NCL. We have read your other reviews and been waiting for this to begin, while I want it to go fast, I don't want it to end.

Thanks again and the best to you and your mom!

AND....It says NAG Harbor off the eastern south shore of Long Island. No such place. There is a SAG Harbor, but that is on the north side of the South Fork

You are awesome. I love the detail you gave. I don't think you've missed an inch of the ship and that was before the ship left the dock. Lol

topanga49er: All I did was read books, all self thought. By the way I haver said this, but I think you have the cutest Avatar on CC. Love it!

Thanks, that is my good boy Chance... he actually does smile! He and his sister Molly are 10 and 11 years young!

Love the lido deck pictures at night: lighting is amazing! Question: how did you get your "copyright" signature on the bottom of each pic? Very cool.

A little off topic, but did you book Quantum yet? Everything selling out so fast! it's crazy! Join us on 4/12/15 twelve day southern caribbean sailing!

Gambee, thank you for sharing your cruise with us on the Norwegian Breakaway! Your review and pictures are outstanding (I see no need for you to get a new camera), your pictures are perfect. Can't wait for day #2. My wife and I are flying out Sunday morning (June 2nd) to board the breakaway. We are really excited to be going on this new ship. Thanks again for your detailed review. FANTASTIC!!!

Haha, that one guy at Guest Services is smiling/laughing. :)

Gambee, did you see any/many kids at Slam Allen/Fire and Ice/etc.? Never took one on a ship before, not clear on where they're not allowed.

Hope you don't mind Gambee, but I thought I'd answer one part of the question.

We took my then 11 year old daughter to Slam Allen's early show on the Epic a few times during the week (stood at the edge so as not to take up seats knowing we may need to leave). She loved him!!!

I am loving this so much that in between Breakaway i'm going to read your silhouette review!

One more question: Understand Casino not being open when in port for legal reasons, but If all restaurants, stores are closed while in port, when do they open up while in port for three days: in the evening? What if you stay on board? Is there an "all aboard" each night in bermuda, or can you stay on the island as long as you want?

I'm not too experienced at cruising, but from my little exposure i've never considered a cruise where you are docked for three days: you are making it soooo tempting!

Another great night reading your review! We will be eating in La Cucina since we got it as a perk. Do you know if you can order an appetizer, salad and a soup or will you be charged extra if you order all three? What's with the pizza, is that part of the entree courses?

Thanks again!

Mitchthebeech: the T3i is a great camera, odd that the pics are not coming that good. Maybe a better lens would help? I am not sure Ill do Quantum when it is going to Bahamas, I think I will wait for it to start traveling to Bermuda and try it then =). The ship looks impressive!

..

Believe it or not they had several itineraries and lengths of cruises. The travel agent that contacted me spoke so fast I could barely keep up with taking the notes (and I do shorthand). But it appears they ranged from 7-12 days and initially it looked like it was only doing Bahamas and CoCo Kay then later in the year, in the winter, it was doing a Southern Carribean itinerary.

I think I'm going to pass on it despite the fact that I didn't think the price was that bad for two adjacent Balcony cabins. I really haven't researched it at all and I'm not sure there is even that much info out to research it. LOL

Gambee great review. Thank you for taking the time, effort and energy to put together such a comprehensive review. I know it will help me out as I plan our November cruise on the Breakaway. Looking forward to reading more.:)

What if you stay on board? Is there an "all aboard" each night in bermuda, or can you stay on the island as long as you want?

Helping Gambee out with some of the questions.

All restaurants are not closed in port - most are open. Take a look at the Freestyle Daily that Gambee will post for the port days to see the hours. During lunch on port days, I have read the MDRs are closed. Buffet open from breakfast-very late and OSheehans and room service always open. Each night, all the restaurants will be open in port.

Store and casino will be closed in Bermuda until about 30-60 minutes after sailaway.

In Bermuda, there is no "all-aboard". From Wednesday arrival - until the Friday all aboard time - guests are able to come and go at all times.

Hope that helps!

John

At La Cucina, you can order the appetizer, salad, soup, pizza, entree, and dessert (although you didn't ask about that!) We have eaten at La Cucina many times, and have never had a problem with having a pizza (to split - they are big!) and an entree each. All for the one cover charge.
