Boston hotels near the pier??

We are sailing on the Dawn 6/28/13 and will be flying in a day early. Are they any hotels near the pier that offer shuttles to the pier?

Are you looking for simple/functional or more lush? There is a Westin and a Marriot less than a mile from the pier. Westin Boston Waterfront and Ren Boston Waterfont, to be precise.

Oh...and keep in mind how close the airport is to the pier. Honestly, pretty much anything between the airport and the pier are "close."

We stayed at the Hampton Inn just east of the airport about a year ago. They were offering a shuttle from the hotel for $5 each IIRC. The kids were free or 1/2 price. That might be an option as the hotels close to the pier were fairly expensive.

Hotwire has a 4* hotel in the Waterfront district for $142 for your date. This is just about the closest hotel to the pier and is highly likely to be the Westin Waterfront. It's a short cab ride from the airport for about $25 or a free ride on the Silver Line from the airport to World Trade Center and a long block walk. You can take the Silver Line to the port for $5 or a cab for about $10.

This is a really good deal. If the hotel isn't the Westin, it will be the Seaport or the Renaissance. No risk at all. If you get involved with hotels that offer free shuttles, they will be in fringe areas pretty far from the pier and the airport and are unlikely to have a lot of services nearby.

Thanks. Looking at the Four Points Sheraton. What do you think?

In Revere? In the Stripmall? And Friday morning to the port is going to be rush hour traffic.

Unless you're saving a bunch of money to stay there (like, free) that $142 price can't be beat for comfort and convenience.

I just looked at the Four Points and it was more expensive than the Hotwire hotel and....it's in Revere which is - well Revere and it's away from the port.

Suck it up. Gamble on Hotwire and prepay the hotel - you should only have such luck in the ship's casino. The waterfront area is safe and is mostly office buildings, restaurants, and 3 4* hotels. You can walk to a choice of restaurants, many on the harbor, and enjoy the ambiance of nice June evening sitting in an outdoor cafe and having a drink. It's a great way to start off your cruise.

How would I get to the pier?

Well, the Hotwire hotel is now up to $176. He who hesitates is lost. You take a cab to the pier from the hotel for $10-15. You are only blocks away. Public transit is also an option for $2.50/pp and a block walk.

Yes you have been spoiled. The cruise business is a insignificant piece of business in New York and Boston. In the scheme of things there are just not enough cruisers to support the kind of cruise services that are available in Florida. Folks need to make money on a daily basis and cruising just doesn't provide the dollars.

Ft. Lauderdale isn't a "seasonal" cruise port. So the hotels know they can cater to cruise passengers by offering shuttles.

Boston is a seasonal port. Since Boston also has a lot of business, there is just no need for the hotels to offer them.
