DKNYC Posted February 2, 2014 #1051 Share Posted February 2, 2014 I think NCL may have gotten the ropes course from Carnival too. Denise Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
DEIx15x8 Posted February 2, 2014 #1052 Share Posted February 2, 2014 I believe there will be something like the NCL waterfront concept on Quantum. There's a video floating around YouTube of Kevin Sheehan 'introducing' NCL Getaway. It's on board the ship during its first populated sailing, he talks about a ship that will be released soon that's already copying the concept. I think it's a logical conclusion that he's probably referring to QoS. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app The funny thing is that the waterfront is really an evolution of what Carnival introduced on the Dream class and Norwegian just copied it. Based on the Royal Caribbean deck plans there is nothing like either on Quantum. Both spaces are a separate outside promenade deck built on top of the lifeboats. Royal Caribbean has cabins there so the closest they could come is to put something on the existing promenade deck which is rather tiny and not hinted at by the deck plans. I too am wondering where it would be on the promenade deck. My eyes are always drawn to that trellis-like structure(?) on the starboard side of the ship squeezed between two life boats. Naaah, couldn't be. Must be some scaffolding. Maybe there's more space on the port side which has a different layout?
Tough as Leather Posted February 3, 2014 #1054 Share Posted February 3, 2014 I had to look up NCL Waterfront since I haven't paid much attention to the Norwegian ships. Found this article that gave me a good idea about what it was. Nice venue. Hope to see it onboard the Quantum-class. http://malcolmoliver.wordpress.com/ncl-breakaways-waterfront/

The humb on both starboard and port side have a potential to have something, as well as the forward sides before the lifeboats.
Bbandeegrl Posted February 3, 2014 #1056 Share Posted February 3, 2014 yeah, my first thought (without studying deck plans) was that it would be on the same deck as the lifeboats, however if that's the case, that would really be a pretty terrible view. I would think something like this waterfront idea should be accompanied by an awesome view... not a view of an almost solid wall of lifeboats. again, just speculation, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Tall-Cruiser Posted February 3, 2014 #1059 Share Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) Lloyd I knew you would find that picture/image soon (I couldn't from my mobile device) thanks. You will also notice on most if not all the renderings they have revealed that they don't show if that is glass or something else on that part forward on either side. Even deck 5 and 4 the glass windows facing the sea are not shown but we know it's going to be glass. So what is that part of the promenade deck, hmmm? Let's speculate more. LLoyd- Going back to your initial thinking, check the deck plans of deck 5. Space between third to last and second to last lifeboats on starboard side and by third to last on port side. That space is what we think is currently scaffolding may afterall be something else. You can also see similar on the center humps as possibilities. sparkx Posted February 3, 2014 #1061 Share Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that there's more than just a bit of Solstice DNA in design, and the Royal Promenade is effectively a lengthened atrium from Solstice - The Solstice class are a gorgeous group of ships and designed very well. I echo how people feel as I would rather have a classic outdoor promenade as per other Royal ships but I didn't feel too put out about it when I was on Reflection last year. I think Oasis is a lot worse for destroying the promenade than Solstice, at least there's some natural light! Lloyd555 Posted February 3, 2014 #1063 Share Posted February 3, 2014 What the...? OK, so we're back to this view. Well, at least we can see what is going on with the bow. And the Anthem of the Seas.
tls1012 Posted February 3, 2014 #1064 Share Posted February 3, 2014 I wonder why they are putting the casino so far down on the ship too? Deck 3? I know it's usually lower but I didn't think it was that low. It seemed like when I was on Freedom, no matter where I went I had to go through the casino to get there. Not that it's a problem...he he he he

And the Anthem of the Seas. Looks like they took us back two weeks or so with this image. Only noticeable difference is perhaps the blocks on the left. Even the Hall 5 pictures are much more clear than Hall 6. Very disappointing.

Behind the big square block in the foreground of the webcam image you can just see the left edge of a block that I think is one that may go below the bridge. The photo below taken from the visitor’s center has a partial view of it. I'm only guessing that it is the area below the bridge because the block is built like steps which could create an angled outer wall. And that's the only angled wall block left on the Quantum of the Seas. I think... ? Oh, and there's also the bow of the Quantum of the Seas behind that block in the photo below. I think the decision overall makes sense, ocean views from the casino aren't exactly a priority :p Edited February 3, 2014 by Dave85

Never really considered the view because I always went there at night so makes total sense. Thanks. But to be totally honest.....I really wish we could get some new info and stuff. All these "MORE TO COME" areas are beginning to irk me. I'm so thankful for you guys for giving me my fix even if it is in small doses.
K1200S Posted February 3, 2014 #1069 Share Posted February 3, 2014 Sure would be nice if Meyer had a web cam mid way in hall 6. We would have a much better look at what is going on at the bow of Quantum. I too wish RCI would fill in a few of those more to come areas. I would be very surprised if at this stage they did not know what is going where.

Like that idea that they'll take advantage of higher decks to increase ocean view quota. Sure would be nice if Meyer had a web cam mid way in hall 6. We could see if the whole keel has finally been laid, with the bulbous nose and bow thruster block completing it. Just when I thought we'd get another look at the potential spot for a NCL Waterfront-like space, they change the webcam view. Coincidence?

Once they install them on the build, the ship will be so much further along. Patiently waiting for Royal Caribbean's next instalment of images... :)

Tall-Cruiser Posted February 4, 2014 #1074 Share Posted February 4, 2014 I'm looking forward to a photo like this one of the Breakaway It is hard to tell if all the keel blocks have been put in place given the "great image" from the webcam today. There appears to be some block/s missing in the bow section with the gap showing on that image. The dock divider should be right under the second green crane in the front part of the Hall. If that was moved or the camera angle changed we could see if the bulbous bow is attached aw well as the others.
