What's your favourite treat or tradition?

Happy Fathers Day all!

We have only cruised once before, in 2011 on Indy, and are really looking forward to seeing Spain on Azura in a couple of months time.

My daughter and I were just browsing pictures and stories on the web, reminiscing about our favourite cruise treats and wondering what they might be this time. Last time I eally enjoyed:

A quiet pint in the Irish bar whilst the girls got ready for dinner.

Being served cocktails on the sun lounger.

Drinks in the theatre (hmm, there's a theme here!)

Room service after a long day and evening out - hot chocolate and cookies.

Salads and sushi in the sun.

Rising early to enjoy the last few miles into port.

A relaxing sea day after a busy day in port and an adventure in port after a chilled day at sea...

How about you?

Hi,

We enjoy the ice cold flannels and cold drink before boarding after a day in port on Celebrity. Plus like you cookies on our balcony for afternoon tea.

Sailaways on P&O and if another ship in port, even better those evenings in the Caribbean are the best, always say to myself don't forget this moment

Glass of bubbly on the balcony at sailaway

Opening the curtains when you have arrived in a new port to see 'where you are' for the first time

Sitting on an aft balcony, watching the wake of the ship, with the moon shining on the sea - glass in hand

The first day - walking on to the ship for the first time...

Booking the cruise and then the build up over months and months on CC !

:D

  • 2 months later...

All of the above!

Looking up from my book to see the sea stretching away to the horizon.

Sun past the yard-arm drinks, drinks before getting ready for dinner, drinks having got ready for dinner, drinks at dinner, after dinner drinks and nightcap.

Good company at the dinner table.

Watching the seabirds gliding along next to the ship. Dolphin and whale watching.

Marching around the prom deck to shift a few pounds from the food and drink :)

There's probably a lot more.

Cheers,

BR

Treats:

A glass of champagne (or mulled wine in winter) on the sailaway from Southampton.

A mini-suite on our next cruise (possibly our first and last but after a tough year and no cruises for 18 months we've decided to go for it).

Any cruise (we've enjoyed them all!).

Traditions:

Car radio switched to Radio Solent when we are in range on the long drive to Southampton.

On deck for the sailaway down the Solent (preferably aft).

A pre-dinner drink (especially outdoors when in the Caribbean).

Get out on deck for the sail-ins and sailaways.

Traditional afternoon tea at least once on the cruise.

Great thread this by the way!

Thought of some more:

*Returning to the Air Con on the ship after a roasting hot day site seeing

*Returning to your cabin at the end of another fabulous day, when the cabin steward has left it so tidy, lights down, towel animal, chocolate on your pillow - bliss

*Breakfast on the aft of the ship in port

*The Champagne Fountain was great fun on Oceana

*The Parade of the Chefs etc - lots of serviette waving. (I know some people hate it but we love it.)

:D:D
