Keeping tabs on the news about the Infinity!

Hope everyone is safe and sound!

Pat :)

What news about the Infinity? I sail on her March 30 to Panama Canal.

Back home safe and sound from my 8 night Caribbean on Century and had a wonderful time. Sad, very sad news is that I gained 18 pounds on a ten day vacation. I deserved it though, I ate like a PIG. I had eggs benedict, bacon and hashbrowns every morning, a full lunch and 3 or 4 course dinners. I have never eaten like that. My clothes were getting snug. I am down 2 this morning, so have 16 to lose before my next cruise which is in 5 weeks. Wish me luck.

Oh, the Infinity news was just a brief scare. Of course, the TV played it up the day it happened, but all it was, was that the ship had bumped into a barge in port and that damaged one of the lifeboats. Trying to repair things effected them getting to the next port, and they had to leave the lifeboat behind. Mic will probably enlighten us, but I don't think anyone was injured or anything like that.

Wow....that's some major eating, Lady. So glad you enjoyed the food! I'm sure you were happy to get some sun and relax. Did you like the Infinity better or same as the Solstice? How were the ports? Short countdown now for you again...and do I see a new cruise on there? ;)

Yes, it was some major eating, I gained 19 pounds in 10 days ... crazy. But I am down 10 in 4 days so I think some of it was just water weight. also my ankles were swollen and are no longer swollen. I plan to go on a hard core diet and exercise regime starting Monday to lose the other 9 pounds.

We sailed on the Century, not the Infinity. And no, I prefer the Solstice class ships by far. Century is their smallest and oldest ship, but hey a cruise is a cruise. Ports were good, we'd been to San Juan and St. Croix before but St. Barts & Turks Caicos were new to us. St. Barts I wouldn't bother going back to it was highly overpriced, beaches not that great, etc. Also I've heard quite a few times that St. Bart's hates having cruise ships in and coincidentally the water plant shut down the day we were there and they announced that there was no access to public washrooms at all the day we were in.

Yes, the countdown is on for our Panama Canal March 30, can't wait to escape the cold again, it's been the coldest winter here in 20 years. Just bitter and miserable.

And yes, we've added another cruise on Eclipse in Feb 2015, a 2 week Caribbean, super excited.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Oops...that's right...you are on Infinity for Panama. I heard rumors that Century will be leaving the fleet...at least you got to try it. I thought St. Bart 's is where all the rich and famous go?

I have lost no weight at all! No gain, though...thank goodness. My seasonal PT job ended yesterday and now I am getting super excited about my Med cruise. Reading lots of info via Rick Steve's' port guide as I know nothing about any of these European cities....sooooo much to see!!! (and eat!!) LOL!

Have a good weekend! More dang snow coming here! Bah!

Up and down....what a see-saw. Lost one pound this week. That was one of the two lbs I gained in Feb....so, no real progress....yet.

I gave up on the DVD's my niece lent me...don't like the program. Decided to give Sweatin' with the Oldies a shot....more my style....and age group. :p Even if I have to sit on a chair part of it, rather than so much knee pounding, at least I'll be moving!

Have a good one folks~

Pat :)

P.S. not cruise news...but, I booked our Aruba B&B for next March this weekend. Long way away, but we just weren't able to do it this year.

Lucky you that your seasonal part time job is over and you can take a break.

I've tried Jillian Michael's dvds and don't much care for fitness dvd's myself. Sweatin' to the Oldies might be kinda fun though lol.

Hooray for booking Aruba, it is one of our favourite ports so far in the Caribbean. We rented trikes there and had a blast, was the best excursion we've ever booked. Have them booked again for our November cruise when we visit Aruba. Worth checking out for sure.

A little over 3 weeks until I set sail for Panama and I've got 10 stubborn pounds to lose. Any suggestions anyone?

oops, sorry...obviously I didn't have any suggestions. Other than the dreaded word....exercise. Nice weather here yesterday, so I actually took my first Spring walk...it was delightful to be outside in the fresh air. Now today we're supposed to get another major snow storm! Lost another half pound here, but still six lbs away from my Hawaii weight. This last six months have provided no results at all!

I'M back.......

Finally returned last night, and awoke to the joy of only putting on around 2.5 kgs. I am so excited about that.:D:D

The whole adventure was absolutely fantastic and while there have been some awesome sights and activities, the highlight was Antarctica. I would recommend that to anyone.

BTW, the Infinity incident must of happened on the cruise after ours (16 feb -2 march) as I don't know anything about the accident.

Great to be back and glad your cruise and cruise planning has been going well.

cheers mic:D

Congrats on losing another half pound Pat. Mic, welcome back. What other places did your cruise go to? How long was this one?

I'm down two pounds this morning, 6 to go in 2.5 weeks to hit my goal pre cruise sigh.

I start back to work at the bank today and am dreading it, I've been off from that job on disability for 2 years and only working my office job. Doctors don't want me going back to the bank, but I got pay for these cruises somehow lol. Wish me luck.

Well done with your losing weight.

Our cruise started in Buenos Aires, went to Ushuaia, cruised around Cape Horn, then Antartica for several days of cruising in Paradise bay, Scholart channel, Gerlache strait, Deception Island before going to the Falkland Islands, then Puerto Madryn and Montevideo (Uruguay) and returning to BA.

Our tour went to Rio before returning to BA and then to Iguazzu falls (both sides) then Peru with Lima, Sacred Valley, Machu Pichu and Cuzco, and return to Lima.

Our next adventure was from Quito, Ecuador to the Galapagos Islands, (Baltra, Santa Cruz, Floreana, Espanola and San Cristobel Islands) aboard the MV Daphne which has 16 passengers. All up it was just under 6 weeks.

I wish you good luck with your work, and I hope you can get through the day okay.

cheers mic

Welcome back, Mic....wow, what a trip you had! And I'm curious how you the small, small ship experience was on the MV Daphne....had to be a big difference from sailing Celebrity!

Deanna...hope your work days are being kind to you. I'm sure this has been quite an adjustment for you.

I've been debating whether I should make a trip to my orthopedic doc. My left knee has been acting up a bit, and it's not so bad that I would normally rush in to see him, but I'm getting worried about the upcoming cruise. This trip may be one of the most strenuous walking trips I've been on, and I'm already worried that I will not be in good shape. I have a Baker's Cyst at the back on the knee which becomes inflamed with irritation. Not sure if another round of joint fluid injections would be in order, plus...they sometimes don't kick in for some time anyway. The injections are a 6 week series....hmmmm. Excercise is a double edged sword as it keeps me limbered up, but can increase the friction on the joint. Sorry....didn't mean to go on and on....

Have a great weekend all! Will be indulging on chocolate cake tonight, as we are throwing a 30th birthday party for our daughter.

Pat :)

The small boat was an experience in itself, the tour was great but it was no cruise. Needless to say, we will not be doing that again in a hurry, the only reason we chose this trip was that it was the only one that suited our dates (the previously planned trip was changed and meant we would miss our flights).

Hope your knee improves and enjoy the chocolate cake.

cheers mic:D

How was everyone's weekend? We went out for dinner Fri and Sat night and I ate a lot but somehow managed a bit of a loss this weekend, yahoo. Now watch, tonight I'll eat a small healthy meal and probably gain lol.

Yes, it never seems to work out as we might expect...LOL!

Question...can you gain a pound in a week just from eating one piece of chocolate cake? Apparently you can! and how big was the piece, you ask? Hmmm....

And I think I need a new scale. This one isn't showing the numbers that I want...LOL!!!! No...seriously...I do think I need a new scale.

Pat :)

and Happy St. Patrick's Day! (I'm 1/4 Irish!)

You may need new scales but I would like a piece of chocolate cake, hope you all enjoyed St Pats day. BTW, everybody is Irish on St Pats day.:D

No...no more cake...for now anyway. On the ship will be a different story!

Last night my daughter and I went to a Tapas restaurant...garlic shrimp, goat cheese croquettes, bacon wrapped dates, and fried plantains...yum, yum, yum with a glass of Sangria. I think I was a fairly good girl. Could have been a lot worse, and NO dessert. We're getting psyched up for that Med cruise coming up. Our first night in Barcelona we are taking a group Tapas tour...it will be so fun.

Good news! I've been trying to step up the excercise to see how my knee is reacting. I figure I need to decide whether to consult with my doc before we travel or not. But with some Sweatin' with the Oldies and getting in a tad of walking with the better weather, I feel that the knee has loosened up a tad and not hurting nearly as much! Fingers crossed, this keeps up. And...just maybe the scale numbers will move as well?

Get packing, Deanna....only a few more days left for you! How do you feel your weight is doing? Best of luck to you!

New one on me....today is supposedly National Happiness Day! So go...be happy!

Pat :)

Goat cheese croquettes? Sounds delish, so do all the tapas. Good for you for skipping dessert.

Glad to hear the knee is feeling better, that's great news. I can't wait for the weather here to warm up so I can get back to walking daily. It's snowing outside as we speak sigh.

Happy National Happiness Day to you as well lol.

And yes, I plan to pack this weekend, well all the stuff that doesn't wrinkle anyway. My weight is okay. I'm still up 6 pounds from the last cruise though. I needed it, but it just all landed in my belly so there's a little pot going on which stinks. I hope my fitted gowns look okay.

I've been pretty bummed about it but also haven't done anything to lose it so I have nobody to blame but myself. I plan on enjoying the cruise and eating and drinking whatever I want and I will deal with it when I get home. Lots of time before summer.

I actually had to go buy a bigger size pair of pants lol

Pat, good news on your knee and don't worry, now the weight loss will follow as you can exercise more.

Deanna, your pot belly may actually be cute (think ET), seriously though, I have trouble imagining you with any extra flesh/fat, I think you need those 6 pounds as a buffer against any illness.

Hope you both have good cruises, I am slightly jealous that my next cruise isn't until December, but then that is how it goes.

:D

I agree with Mic on those extra six lbs you've been worrying about, Deanna. If you're been feeling good and healthy, then so be it!

Yesterday I did the treadmill and recumbent bike on a visit to Kim's gym with her. I was very sore, but no real knee problem. Today I took an hour long walk...much prefer that since the weather was decent. Unfortunately it's not supposed to be as nice again for the next week...so much for Spring!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Pat :)

Glad the knee is holding up, once spring is in full swing, I am sure you will be walking so much more and enjoying the gardens as you do so.:D

Happy Monday everyone. My weight is at a plateau, I keep going up or down 1 - 2 pounds. Seems my body is happy with my weight where it's at.

Still freezing cold winter here and covered in snow, we had more snow dumped on us late last week. Can't wait for the warmer temps and the snow to be gone so I can get back to my daily walks.
