Don't Judge Me....

Just don't be that annoying passenger talking real loud and cracking jokes that are only funny to you while the most important part of your cruise is taking place. Remember, this may be fun and games to some who have cruised before, but there might be some who are actually taking it seriously and want to pay attention.

On our last muster drill (last week), they actually asked everybody over the loudspeakers to stay absolutely quiet while they called all the cabins for each lifeboat. It was a loooong process but they said it was the new way of ensuring that everyone is present.

WHAT.....you mean they took a cabin roll call?????????? Ugh.....

I go, and I'm quiet and attentive, but do I really need to know or will I remember that muster station A will board lifeboats 2,4,6,8 and life rafts 1,3,5,7.......and muster station B will board lifeboats ...........They aren't really expecting me to remember that are they?

I mean really, how about they give us some meaningful information like go get your life vest and put it on (here is how you do that) and go to your muster station where you will be directed to board what ever lifeboat/liferaft that the crew member directs you to.

And please watch the continually running video (that doesn't currently exist) playing on your cabin TV for more detailed instruction as to how to board a lifeboat/liferaft and what to do once you are on the vessel.

Just making sure that everyone shows up for the muster drill is no indication that people really know what they are suppose to do in an emergency.

Thats horribly inconvenient for everyone. I am surprised they don't do it like on Princess where they scan your card when you enter your muster area. I would think being a sister line they would share tech in some ways. It certainly speeds up the process and increases efficiency.

On NCL, each area muster drill leader has a clipboard with all of the cabins assigned to their area. When you show up, you just tell them your cabin number. They will call out any cabins not checked off when the drill starts. It doesn't take long.

If you don't want to go, just stay in your cabin.

Somebody on this site used to do it all the time.

I think they would all hide out in the bathroom when they came around and checked.

And then everyone else can spend longer at the muster waiting for them to be found:(.

yes, in the bathroom, under the bed, on the balcony, in the closet, whatever.

But am I going to have to stand out in the heat and humidity with hundreds of other sweaty people while they are being sought out?

This is my question - and what is going to happen if they do not respond to the roll call?

OP, I know this is a departure from your original question, sorry. But I may be out there buzzed with you if it is going to be an extended period of time. :(

Don't stand next to me stinking to high heaven and wobbling around at muster drill and I won't judge you. :D

What??? Being buzzed makes you stink? Uh oh. Lots of stinky cruisers on these ships!

We had way too many of these people on our last cruise. Muster took much longer than it should have because of the "Hey everybody! Look at me being a drunk obnoxious idiot" crowd. Funny thing was that we never saw anyone acting like that the rest of the cruise. Something about getting tanked as soon as they get on board seems to appeal to some people.

Get as drunk as you want, just don't make Muster into more of a pain than it already is.

:(

Holland America escorted an elderly couple off one of their ships right before it set sail.

Royal Caribbean, and they too take roll call, will make you attend a safety briefing during your cruise and if you refuse to you can be confine to your cabin for the rest of the cruise.

And yes they can legally do all of this.

Glad to hear this, Princess, NCL and Royal Caribbean have a much better process to make sure you are attending than Carnival has had in the past.

Please dont do this. We had to wait while the people in the cabins were called out- then we had to wait til they arrived. They announced like 12 cabin numbers and asked the people in those cabins to make their way to the muster station
