susique Posted July 11, 2013 #26 Share Posted July 11, 2013 That is good to know about tipping the butler and concierge, however, my question was can you use your OBC in the casino. If so,how do they handle that? I understand the 3, but do they give you cash? Thanks in advance.
SteveH2508 Posted July 11, 2013 #27 Share Posted July 11, 2013 Buy a FCC for $250 get $100 OBC is the marketing hype. You buy $250 worth of FCC for a NET cost of $150 - the OBC never exists - it is a discount from the headline price. Your account is billed a net $150. Maths 101. It has no effect on refundable/non-refundable OBC, DSC or anything else.

They will charge your onboard account $103 and hand you $100 cash. There is a 3% fee for getting cash on your account. Any OBC (refundable and non-refundable) can be used to pay for charges made at the cage.

IT shows up on your bill as $250 and right underneath it $100 OBC, if say you already had $250 in OBC before you purchased the FCC, then you would still have $100 OBC from the FCC. Math 102. SteveH2508 Posted July 12, 2013 #32 Share Posted July 12, 2013 Because my post was accurate, and his was not. Why try to play post police when all your doing is adding more useless drivel? OK [pedant on] ... the OBC only exists for an instant - it is immediately subsumed in the FCC purchase... [pedant off] All I'm trying to do is to put right those folks who post about how are they going to use all of their OBC (lucky so and so's). I'm pointing out that they do not get an extra $100 to spend - they will use up a NET $150 of their OBC for the purchase.

I understand what you are trying to convey, but for the sake of other people like me who primarily use the logical side of their brain (left-side) We can confirm that the $100 OBC is on the bill, while it makes no difference as the most the FCC can cost you is $150 regardless of how it transpired, it would be important for some to know how it got to that price, and how tp plan if you have $250+ in OBC. Say you had $250 in non-refundable OBC and you bought a FCC, you would still have to spend another $100 on board other than the DSC, good stuff to know. SilentHill Posted July 13, 2013 #35 Share Posted July 13, 2013 How do you determine Non-refundable from refundable? What kind is world cruise credits? On your bill or stateroom invoice it says "refundable" or "non-refundable" OBC, from what I've seen recently in doing some research only cash that someone like your TA or friends / family that someone put on your account is refundable, usually all promotional types are non-refundable but, I'm not 100% sure. Does that mean if it's refundable (a gift) and you don't spend it they'll refund the balance to your card? Demonyte Posted December 6, 2013 #37 Share Posted December 6, 2013 Does that mean if it's refundable (a gift) and you don't spend it they'll refund the balance to your card? The normal procedure for positive onboard account balance is to mail the passenger a check couple of weeks after the cruise. There have been reports that one can also go to guest services on last night or disembarkation morning and get the remaining balance in cash.
