What? No inside information to share? Just a suspicion?

Just suspicion. There has been talk about where she will home port, but nothing is concrete. The only information that I have that is 95% certain is that...

1. There will be no large Atrium - only 3 decks stopping at deck 5:

2. Deck 4 will have the Casino from the existing conference room to the Blush Dining Room as exists on Breeze;

3. Ship will be approximately 21 feet longer at bow and 30 feet at aft;

4. It will be the same width as the Dream Class;

5. There will be 3 pools (with a 1/2 in 1/2 out pool where the current Limelight Lounge is on the Breeze);

6. More cabins with a capacity of 5,100 persons (an increase of 400 persons from existing Breeze);

7. Cabins will be in existing empty space above deck 5 of Breeze Atrium;

8. Deck 5 will have a number of "specialty" restaurants (paid) with a variety of themes;

9. There will be a "Crew Serenity" area at bow of ship with same style chairs, hammocks etc. (no spa) like the existing Serenity areas on board Carnival ships;

10. It will be around 5,000 tons heavier than existing Dream Class (130,000) and will most likely be called Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Vista, or Carnival Splash.

Even though Galveston is the closest port to us, the itineraries out of there stink. Don't want to start our vacation in cold temps so that leaves out most of the east coast. Ft. Lauderdale is the easiest aiport out of the "warm" ones with itineraries we like so that has to be my pick.

We have a beautiful new port. Plenty to do in the city before and after a cruise. Porting here gives Carnival the option of returning to Acapulco, La Paz, Maznillo, Zihuat, alot lower Mexico ports. It would bring back the cruisers that are over Catalina, Ensenada, Cabo, PV as our ONLY ports:mad:

Many don't fly or cant afford to so they don't cruise anymore..

I don't live in SD anymore (was born and raised) but would love to make my annual trip "home" and be able to add on a cruise to the same vacation. One airfare and two vacations! There isn't even anything decent out of LA on Carnival.

I saw that someone posted on JH's fb page today, that they saw in the NY Daily News, Vista will or may {I don't remember which word they used} be home ported in NY.

I did a search on the Daily News website and can't find anything about it.

Has anyone else seen the article?

Sadly, that seems to be the trend. NCL, Royal. Another ship that I won't sail on. Too bad.

I came back to see if anyone had seen the article that was mentioned on JH's FB page, you know, the one I asked about in the original post.

Funny thing, I spent forever looking for my thread because the title of it had been changed and a poll added to it! Thanks for that btw.

So I guess that means that no one saw the NY Daily News article that was mentioned on fb?

My wish is that it comes to Norfolk. Everyone has abandoned the brand new cruise ship terminal. No bridges to go under, not that long to reach the open sea, so having to burn the super clean stuff should't be too much of an issue for that short period of time.

Norfolk has plenty of transportation options, airport is easy to traverse. Flights to just about everywhere.

Bring her to NORFOLK!!!!!!!

Glad to see charleston has a strong showing. Like I said on another thread. I don't think carnival will put the vista in NYC just because RCI or ncl has put their newest ships their. I believe port Canaveral or Fort Lauderdale will more likely be the home port. This will free up the freedom or liberty to go to charleston to replace a retiring fantasy.

My sister use to live in the tidewater area, and I was never able to find decent flights or trains in and out of there. Wouldn't mind Norfolk though. Driving via 13 is easy so long as you can handle the Bay/Bridge. I don't know why more ships don't cruise out there to be honest.

I like your thought process, no ship at all, to the best and newest. Hey, if you have a wish, wish big. Good luck with that one, but it makes as much sense as many others here.

I say give us a try..we got the Magic and she sells out every cruise..we need a big ship where maybe we can get better & farther places to go..just an idea..

Just a thought, how would a new ship get you farther or better places? On a more positive note, loved sailing on the Breeze out of Galveston.;)

Beeive it or not, the entire east coast is not cold year round;)

I probably won't ever choose to sail out of NY just because of logistics. The airports are far from the city and a pre-cruise hotel would be too costly especially needing a suite or multiple rooms for a large family.

I vote for Port Canaveral but any FL port would work. Lots of flight options from all over the country (world) and plenty of hotels that are on the budget side. I also think it's easier for more of the population to drive to FL than NY. Parking much easier and cheaper too.

Despite the outflow for "New York New York" and "Galveston Oh Galveston" Carnival will most likely home port the Vista at a port that can handle the ship size and offer a variety of cruises in the 6-8 day range over flexible itineraries. This might include some West Coast sailings, but there's been a lot of consternation on Mexican cruises due to violence and ports in west coasts of Guatemala, El Salvador Panama or Costa Rica aren't necessarily tourist-oriented. That leaves Miami as the bigger port of choice, unfortunately. From there you can have a bit more variety of ports to the Antilles and Southern Caribbean as well as the central and western Caribbean ports reachable from Galveston. You're primarily limited to fogged in Canadian cruises, Bermuda or maybe Nassau out of NYNY.

NYC airports are a nightmare. The only way I would cruise out of Manhattan would be to fly into EWR and find transportation from there to the port.

Won't be sailing her if she ports in Miami. That is one of my least favorite ports.
