terrible cabin steward!

just returned sat. from our 5 night cruise on carnival's inspiration with my wife and two teenage daughters 13&14. liked the cruise for most part beut cabin steward really ruined our 1st cruise experience. I also submitted a cruise review and will answer any other ?'s any of you might have. But here is what happend to us.

The first night the cabin steward turns down the bunk beds for our kids and turns the sheets down to our beds but doesn't push them together to make the double bed.Not a big deal i'm not going to bother the busy guy to push the beds together, i can do that myself. So i push the one twin bed over and underneath the bed we find dity socks, dirty women's underwear,a used condom, forks, knives, spooon, plate, food crumbs and wrappers. so i go get the cabin steward he comes in takes a look and says he doesn't have time for this ****. picks everything up by his bare hands and has another guy come in and vacume the floor.

The next morning we all shower and head for breakfast and enjoy our day. well on the bathroom wall is a sign that says if your going to reuse towels and washcloths to hang them back up and if you want new ones leave them on the bathroom floor. well we leave ours on the floor and when we come back our room is nice and clean but the towels and washcloths have been thrown inside our closet. we complain to the information desk and they said they will take care of it.

The rest of the cruis the room is kept clean except for any drinking glasses we brought back to the room at night( and not the souvenire ones) were left on our desk the entire time until we put them in the hallway.I would have thought they would have been removed whenever they cleaned.

call carnival's customer service and told them about what happened they said that's not how they want things done and for our troubles they would send us 4--$25.00 certificates good for on ship purchases good for next 18months.

Oh yeah, now that is gross!! I did find an empty bag of chips once under the bed... no biggie, the steward cleaned it up... but your steward should have been apologetic and not a butt about it... sorry you didn't have good steward. My stewards have always been one of the highlights for me :(

Ewwwww. If I'd moved a bed and found what you found only to be given attitude by the cabin steward I'd have been raising all kinds of heck. I can't believe Carnival would put up with the steward's reply to you. I'm really sorry you had those experiences. I've had nothing but great cabin stewards. I hope you ripped him a new one on the comment card. He needs to re-evaluate his career choices.

You know I've never understood the thing about the towels. Everytime I hang mine up to be recycled they put new ones in their place. What's the point?

How come it is that when we see a post this negative the poster has less then 5 post to his name? Just curious.

I don't think this is fair. The poster was generally positive about the cruise, was negative only about one aspect of it. He also included information about Carnival's positive response. This did not seem like a bash to me.

m227 was our cabin number on the main floor. itwas an inside statesroom can't remember the stewards name. when i talked to the customer service on the phone monday they said they would be able to find out who it was.

as far as negative posts by people with very few posts i could not answer that for you all i can say is about myself and that i just discovered this board a few weeks ago trying to find info for our upcoming trip. i had joined another cruise discussion board but they don't seem to respond very quickly to posts.

Ok that's just really, really nasty. Sorry you had a rotten steward.

About the drink glasses, this seems to be standard practice at least for Carnival and RCCL. In fact I just participated in another thread about this a week or so ago. We too have had our glasses left in the room dirty. The first cruise it happened on, I thought the same thing you did but now that it's happened a few times and from reading this board I realize that they do it on purpose. Sometimes, if there's still something in the glass they cover it with one of those paper caps. I think they must do this because people have likely complained that they had a full drink in the room and the room steward got rid of it or something like that. So now they won't get rid of it at all unless you tell them to or put it in the hall.

Like pirateover40, I've also had the reverse happen with the towels. We hang them and get new ones anyways. Can't figure that out either.

Anyway, sorry you had a bad experience. Don't give up on cruising.

we did enjoy everything else about our trip. the food and waiters we had in dining room were awesome them alone would make the trip positive, the food was great the only negative would have been the long lines at breakfast buffet because evryone would hold the line up to have omelettes made but no biggie there. wife loved the art auctions, casino was fun,the shows were great, the comic was very funny.

now debarkation i thought was chaotic. the relaxed debarkation was far from that. they had us wait on either the lido or prominade decks and wait till they gave the ok to debark and then it was a free for all for elevators and stairs. thought they would have you stay in cabin and maybe call you by floor and or section of floor.

Ok Mr. Woodhead,

I have just about heard it all. How dare you bash these people who spent their hard earned money on a cruise to witness utter disgust and a smart mouthed room steward! Just because they have only a few postings does not even come into play in this situation. I am leaving Sat. and will be in a Cat 12 suite.( 1st time cruise) I have been watching these boards to learn all I can before I go to make the most of my much needed vacation. I would not have been so nice to that room steward. I would have raised cane!!! But-understandable that this family did utilize the proper channels.

And Mr. Woodman... learn how to spell Orlando...your home town!!!

Just because a person has few posts, does not make them less credible. I read this board almost daily for four years before my first post. You guys have great information to share. We should not make new posters feel unwelcome. I remember my first post was flamed, however, by reading the boards I developed tough skin and have continued to post.

Now to get back to the topic. I appreciated the original post because I learned new information. On my next cruise, I will look under the bed! Never thought to do it before, just as I never thought about leaving purchases in plain view in the cabin, or bringing an extra credit card for the safe, packing tips, excursion tips, and the list goes on.

My point is- unless the person is an obvious troll, don't flame. Let's continue to help each other. If we have questions, let's question in a positive way. On a lighter note, I love the funny threads like "Can I take a crockpot on board".

Sorry you had such a terrible steward, I have had one that I almost didn't tip too. As I was leaving the room to go to pursers for money to leave tip, the steward we had was in the hall cussing and screaming at a couple who had left the room with the tip not in it. I later met the couple at the pursers and they said they told him they were going to get money to leave in their envelope for him. To me that was just a bad deal. The steward in his defense was great during the week, but this left me with a bad taste in my mouth lets say. And yes this was before tipping was automatically taken out.

Hmmmmm, sounds like someone had a great cruise prior to you.....

On our past cruise, we found a partly smoked joint, dirty ashtray, and part of a mixed drink under our bed when we got ready to put a couple of empty suitcases under the bed. (Hey, that's an idea.....sounds like your valuables would be safer put under your bed than the safe for the cruise.....LOL!....just kidding) In a big hurry, we dumped the joint down the commode and dumped out the drink also and put the glass and ashtray in the hall.......AND went on with our cruise. Guess we could have said something to the steward; but didn't feel like the hassle on our cruise. Our steward was a very good one otherwise...kept us in ice and the usual niceties. I probably would have really freaked finding a dirty condom.....ACK!

I honestly try to pick up my own nasty messes......I think it's really rude for people to leave behind that sort of yuck for other people to clean up....ugh!~

I need all the tips I can get but I don't understand that one. I'm probably dense, no wait I AM dense but why does it matter where you put purchases?
