Vacation Vignette

Recommended Posts

Never saw that phrase on any cruise. But often Regent and my TA will give us onboard credits to spend as wish, the spa, shops, some special excursions that have a surcharge etc. Could it mean you will get a picture on your cruise? But Regent no longer has pesky photo guys or gals?

I wish I could be more helpful, I'm

mystified.

I just got my paperwork via email from regent for my cruise and it says $200.00f for vacation Vignette....does anyone know what this is. I tried to call Regent and they are closed on Sunday....Just curious.

Did you book with Regent direct or thru a TA?? Which cruise (date) have never heard that term and this came from Regent and not thru a TA??

I think this is a travel agents organization much like Virtuoso.

If you look it up on Google (Vacation Vinette), you will see the clues..

So apparently the invoice may not be a Regent invoice but a TA invoice ??

A fast Internet search tells me that "Travel Leaders" a large travel consortium has a program called "Vacation Vinette" so I suspect the OP is looking at an invoice from her TA who is connected with the Travel Leaders group.

Is the $200 a ship board credit? Or a charge?

I just checked about the group on line and it sounds similar to Virtuoso or the other TA groups. If it's a credit, it might be because there is no tour offered. If it's a charge . . . who knows.

"vacation vignette" is a term used by the consortium Vacation.com. It sounds like your TA is a member of vacation.com, and they offer various amenities on cruise lines and such.

In this case, a "vignette" is one being escorted by a representative from vacation.com and the shipboard credit is one of the amenities being offered on your cruise. They usually do a free excursion in a port and a private cocktail party. Now on Regent the free excursion is nothing special since Regent includes excursions anyway, although it will be a private group, but on other cruise lines its a really nice perk that clients like, and the complimentary cocktail party is a way to get to know others in that group. Vacation.com blocks space and then your TA can sell individuals into that space, which gets the client some perks.

I booked it thru my travel agent. I asked her what it was and she had not heard of it. This came from Regent and this is how it reads. It it not a charge that we would owe.

Promotional Amenities Guests Per Person Total

CONCIERGE 30 MINS COMP INTERNET 1, 2

VACATION VIGNETTE 1, 2 $100.00 $200.00

WHY CHOOSE - $300 PER SUITE SHIPBOARD CREDIT PER SUITE $300

Regent will be open tomorrow I will call them then. Just wondering if anyone else knew what it was.

Sounds like your TA may be unaware of consortium benefits the the consortium his or her agency is part of. Another possibility is that Regent confused your booking with being from another TA related to Vacation Vignette. In any case, enjoy the extra OBC.

Just found a link to the Vacation Vignette list of hosted cruises http://vacationvignettes.smarttrvl.com/2013/eBrochure.asp?id=&trackingId= and your cruise is listed under Regent on page 26 so this benefit is most definately coming from your TA. Suggest you contact him or her again and ask about their affiliation with the provider of this extra benefit. All Regent will be able to tell you is that the benefit comes from a cruise consortium as it doesn't come directly from Regent.

I have often booked Regent trips through Travel Leaders and recently we had a "Vacation Vignette" cruise on Regent. Vacation Vignette provided us an on-board credit, a special shore excursion, an on-board reception and an on-board concierge. Did not cost anything extra and was a nice touch.

BTW, the shore excursion was very nice outing.

Why is it that you are allowed to post your Travel Agency and benefits received but I am not allowed to post my Travel Agency and the benefits they provide?

Host Dan?

I thought the same thing and checked out "Vacation.com". It is indeed a consortium so it is permitted on CC as far as I know.

Only two reasons Marq,

1. Her TA was NOT posted, we have all only talked about Consortium companies who provide benefits to clients of multiple TA's and are allowed such as Ensemble, American Express, etc.

2. No rule against providing the benefits we might receive from our TA's. The rule is against posting the NAME of any TA's

Sorry for quoting the wrong "post" in my last msg; I had meant to quote shuguley's post.

Dave, so I can post EVERY benefit I receive from my TA? Not just direct monetary benefits but also indirect monetary benefits and other benefits?

Understand quoting the wrong message but, Travel Leaders is a Consortium as well so shuguley's post is OK as well.

As to posting benefits, I have posted a bunch of times the minimum 10% a number of us get back from our TA and Host Dan has never deleted a post. Others also post benefits without the posts being deleted. As far as I know, no problems posting any type of benefit as long as you don't post the name or contact info for your TA.

By the way, not sure what indirect monetary benefits are and if your TA's benefits are better than the great service, rebates and other benefits than our TA, perhaps we should be using your TA??

Thanks for the clarification,

Some TAs are members of this organization and it's similar to Virtuoso etc.. but with seemingly less benefits etc. On past Regent Cruises, there was always a vignette rep on board (aka a person representing this organization) organizing an excursion and a cocktail party for guest of their TAs. My experience with those tours and parties is more or less so-so. The excursions are very similar to the Regent provided tours only to have a slightly different itinerary (aka order of places visited). If Regent goes to A then B then C, those tours go to B, then C, then A...to avoid the "regent crowds" :-) The cocktail party is like any other you can organize in the lounge or bar and nothing special, other than getting to know fellow travelers or your "vignette host". The host is also (supposed to) help you with issues and bookings, like a concierge, but I never found that very necessary or helpful. It seems the rep is basically getting a large discount on their cruise being the Vignette Rep.

I'd take the 200 ship board credit :-)
