neilp Posted September 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2013 Hi I am looking at doing the Indy transatlantic cruise in November 2014. In the last couple of days the price of a balcony cabin has gone from 799 to 1049. Does any one have experience of this cruise ? Is the price likely to come back down.or will it continue to rise? Many thanks
setsail Posted September 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2013 Don't have any way of knowing. You can always book an OV just to get on the ship and then upgrade to the balcony later if the price is right
Ken at the beach Posted September 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2013 Do a fake booking and then hit the change cabins button. It will then give you a list of available cabins. This should give you a feel of if the ship is getting close to full (maybe no more price drops) or lots of cabins still left ( maybe more price drops). Edit. Sorry thought you said 2013. For 2014 as previous poster said way to early to tell.
Grandma Dazzles Posted September 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2013 Agree that it is too early to tell for 2014. However, we did that cruise, Southampton to Fort Lauderdale in 2012, and booked early - checked frequently and the price slowly climbed and then held - never came down from when we booked. neilp Posted September 12, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted September 12, 2013 PMcC1998: how many days into the cruise was it until the sun came out? Well i went and booked an inside promenade cabin but RC have now announced free drinks for balcony cabins. Do you think I am too late to upgrade to this offer ? Many thanks simple reason for that price rise...they are offering 'free' drinks packages on Transatlantic's now (in the UK anyway) - I do believe that is about the same cost as the price jump - just sayin' ;)

Many thanks We are going on the Indy TA this coming November. We booked a balcony room last march and the price hasn't come down (I've check almost daily). In fact it went up about $100 more pp a few months ago and has stayed at that price ever since. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

We really did not have very good weather- raining when we left Southampton, poured in Portugal and probably two-thirds of the way ....... Weather picked up once we got close to the Caribbean. Many people on board had done the cruise numerous times and said that you really never knew what the weather would be.

Best not tell the wife, I think she is expecting reasonable weather. This one doesn't stop at Portugal. It goes straight to the caribbean so maybe the weather will get better quicker. neilp Posted September 13, 2013 Author #13 Share Posted September 13, 2013 I wish they had announced the drinks package at the same time as the price increase. The "free" unlimited alcohol package is the most restrictive promo I've seen from Royal yet.
