scubamommy! Posted September 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2013 Hi, I am not a smoker but I am trying to figure out what is going on just so I know what to expect. On a thread that says "what is the best thing" many folks wrote the non smoking policy but on a thread about what cabins are better many folks wrote the smoke wafts up to.... So which is it, smoking or no smoking? Are some smoking and some not? We are booked on the Constellation. Anyone have an answer for that ship? Thanks in advance. No smoking inside at all and no smoking on any of the balconies either. Smoking is allowed outside in specific areas only. One of those areas is deck 5, portside....so if you are directly above that area on deck 6 and are sitting out on your balcony you might get a waif. Book a starboard cabin and you should be all good. bigbenboys Posted September 28, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2013 This is from Celebrity website For your comfort and enjoyment, our ships are designated as non-smoking; however, we recognize that some of our guests smoke. Therefore, cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas of the ship. Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, casino, theater, lounge, hallway, elevator, or corridor. This policy includes smoking-like products such as electronic cigarettes. Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom, nor on any stateroom veranda. If you are in violation of this policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to your SeaPass® account and you may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of the Guest Conduct Policy. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard. PinkUK Posted September 28, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2013 Hi, hope this helps. On our recent cruise an Italian gentleman in the stateroom next to ours smoked on the balcony, I complained and was told that they would send someone up to speak to him. Next day he was out there puffing away so I complained again and they said they would send someone up to speak to him again, I wasn't feeling hopeful but I didn't get another whiff for the remaining ten days of our cruise. Obviously I can't tell you what they said to him to make him stop but clearly initially he was intent on ignoring the 'rule' but ultimately didn't feel he could. For me this was a really positive aspect of our cruise I just hate having to breath second hand smoke and I really appreciated that Celebrity were as good as their word concerning their smoking policy; bravo to them! Incidentally I regularly saw people who attempted to light up around the pool rapidly requested to move off or put out, I found Celebrity really quite strict. :D I hope you don't get a room above the smoking area that sounds grim. scubamommy! Posted September 28, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted September 28, 2013 hmmm, odd that the smoking "area" is on deck 5. Wouldn't you think the higher the deck the better, then the smoke could just drift up in the air and not to other cabins. Sadly we are booked in 6086 and 6084. Not sure we can move as our TA said it was hard to find two cabins that joined. It won't bother me to much if we just get a whif now and then but hoping it is not something that will keep us from enjoying our balcony. This is the first cruise we will actually HAVE a balcony so we are looking forward to enjoying some late night wine or morning coffee out there. Thank you to all who have responded. Actually, on Constellation it's deck 4, not deck 5. If you were on deck 5, you'd have to sit in a lifeboat to smoke. :D Deck 4 is the Promenade deck, the only lower deck that is open to the outside. The next open deck is 6 levels up on deck 10. The deck 4 smoking areas are to make it convenient for people on the lower entertainment decks, including the casino, to be able to slip out for a quick hit of their drug. ShadowzBtlr Posted September 28, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 28, 2013 Scubamommy, no need to worry. Your cabins are on the starboard (right) side on the ship; smoking on deck 4 is only on the port (left) side of the ship. The following identifies the designated smoking areas on the Constellation. Smoking areas on M-class ships (Millennium, Infinity, Constellation & Summit) include the following locations: Deck 10 (Resort Deck mid-ship) – Port-side only – outside between the Buffet (Waterfall Café/Grill) and the Pool Bar Deck 10 (Resort Deck aft) – Port-side only – outside of the Buffet (Waterfall Café/Grill) Deck 4 (Promenade Deck mid-ship) – Port-side only – outside between restaurant (Cosmopolitan Rest.) and Celebrity Theatre

Rare keesar Posted September 28, 2013 #9 Share Posted September 28, 2013 When we were on Constellation, we could not believe the amount of smoking that was taking place. People in a wedding party with adjacent cabins were having a party. Many were smoking but not in the designated area. Then when we got into port, there were several people smoking on their balconies. We left our cabin and headed up to the pool area. However, that was the only time we experienced such smoking.

The smoking area on Celebrity are generally the port side of the promenade deck, One section on port side of the open deck by the pool, one section of one side of the deck above and overlooking the pool (usually by the Mast Bar) and the port side of the aft bar. I presume the reason they choose the promenade deck is it one of the few outdoor areas which is relatively sheltered from the elements and it is also relatively close to the main bar and casino areas. On the Constellation the promenade deck is deck 4. Also, cabins with even numbers are on the starboard (right) side of the ship while the smoking areas are almost all on the port (left) side. So you shouldn't have any issues.

Lsimon Posted September 29, 2013 #17 Share Posted September 29, 2013 So, Does that mean the Casinos are also smoke free? There is no indoor smoking at all. Nowhere. (At least not in guest areas - I'm less certain of crew areas). There is no smoking allowed in any stateroom nor any stateroom veranda. There are only four designated outdoor smoking areas.
