Kudos to Carnival

Just off "Breeze", and I thought Guys was just "so-so", but I don't put a whole bunch of stuff on my burger. The lovely Mrs. Jones however, LOVES Guys, and will go back often on a cruise.

In my opinion, the best thing about Johnny Rockets is the dancing waiter/waitresses. The shakes are good, but the burgers and other fare is strictly average, at best.

You have got that right. I didn`t see anything that was so fabulous about a guys burger. Any burger can be good if cooked right with the right meat..:D

In neither example would you be tipping the cook.

In the service example, you are tipping the wait staff, who yes, also dance at the top of the hour. :D

So, as i said, i would neither sit in their booths nor do i care for their so called dance routine, so why shouldn't i be able to walk in, get a burger, and leave, just like at Guy's on Carnival?

And you are incorrect. At Guy's, the cook IS the waitstaff as well. Use the same setup on RCCL and get rid of the dancing polar bears.

Guys, will tell you after my upcoming Breeze cruise.

Five guys......pretty good.

All that said, I will take what I am eating right now. The Halal Guys 53rd and 6th NYC......Chicken and Gyro,,,,, YUMMM!!!

At that point i would rather have a steak...i agree 80/20 is a little too much fat but when you get too high you lose that good flavor that comes with the fat......imagine a prime rib with no fat...it would be tasteless. In my opinion.

I understand. i just prefer a hamburger over steak and I'd rather have the leaner ground beef, especially when it's only 20 cents a pound more than the 80/20.

When eating a steak, I always cut the fat away anyway. I've never eaten prime rib either.

WOW My taste must really stink because I love Johnny Rockets. Even to the point that when my sister lived in San Antonio we use to eat at the Johnny Rocket's there. Of course I always ordered the Chicken Club Sandwich so I can't compare the hamburgers between JR and Guy Burgers, which is another place where I enjoy eating burgers.

That's incorrect. The food is free. It's a service restaurant, and there's a service charge.

Just like yesterday for you. You paid for food, and then tipped. The tip is the service charge, cause they served you as you sat, and brought you your food.

And on RCCL, if you want to serve yourself, there are burgers in the buffet.

When trying to compare two products, one should probably try both products and understand them before trying to do so. Trying to bring the other down, to make the one look better is not making that product better. Think Tonya Harding.

And for the record, I didn't like JR's either, except for their shakes. Have never tried one on land.

Wow, what a load of junk. The food is free, it's a service charge.....sounds to me like you are trying to make chicken salad out of chicken ship. You are true to six flags of the seas though, I will give you that..... By the way, are the burgers in the buffet on rccl JR burgers?

Well, then Guy's has to be better than McDonald's, as theirs are only 18% beef...and 82% ??? I've not been overly impressed with Guy's TV show - just another "celebrity" chef in a long line of such shows.....but am willing to try one of his burgers when we sail next week.....

Fortunately, our local base commissary carries 97% lean ground beef, so that's what we're used to at home -- makes eating a burger or anything with ground beef in it at a restaurant a challenge.....

I hope they are selling that at a good price!

I use 93/7 ground beef for an excellent burger made at home and only $2.50 a pound.

I'm jealous!

I always hear alot of talk on here of whats good on Carnival and whats bad and the same with other cruiselines. Well for the first time in my life yesterday i had lunch at Johnny Rockets and it was horrible.....i hear that is a pay food option on RCCL. Well i just have to give Carnival a big high five as Guy's Burger's and Fries blows Johnny Rockets away and for no extra charge. This is not to start anything about other lines as to me a cruise is a cruise. If you go to have a goodtime and treat the crew and other passengers with respect and don't knit pick every little thing you will no matter what cruiseline. I cruise for fun and have fun when i cruise. Happy cruising everyone!

What Johnny Rockets did you go to, Bruce?

I ask because not all JRs are created equally.

I really like Johnny Rockets, but a few here in South Florida aren't good.

Both in Atlantic City, NJ are great (particularly the one in Showboat Casino)!

I practically have to drag my DH to Johnny Rockets here in S. Florida, but when we went to Atlantic City, he liked it.

Recently, DH went on a Royal Caribbean cruise with some guys from work and he raved about the Johnny Rockets burger he got aboard!

All I can say is that Johnny Rockets has great burgers, but it does depend on which Johnny Rockets you're at in my experience.

One thing I like about them is that they use real cheddar cheese and quality thick cut bacon. So many burger joints these days use artificial (processed) cheese and poor quality (pre-cooked/microwave) bacon.

I also like that you can modify your burger at Johnny Rockets. Don't be afraid to add or subtract what comes standard on your burger of choice.

The good Johnny Rockets I've experienced in South Florida are at the Dolphin Mall in Miami and next door to the Colony Hotel in South Beach (if it's still there). Unfortunatey, the one closer to me (at Hard Rock Hollywood) is one of the worst I've been to).

**I sailed the Liberty just before it got the 2.0 upgrades & Guys. Their burgers look really good to me in the various photo reviews (like Johnny Rockets) and I would love to try them. I have no Carnivals booked right now, but when we book again I hope it's a ship with Guys!

It was in Eatontown NJ Monmouth Mall.....the fries had cheese sauce covering real unmelted cheese.....the burger was pure gray and greasy as could be......Five Guys are greasy but good.

In all fairness Bruce, you are basing your statements on a land based restaurant. You can go to five different restaurants of any brand and find five different tastes of the same food. I see you've never sailed RCL. Maybe they taste a lot different on the ship than what you experienced at a mall. In my opinion, mall fast food never does taste as good as in their restaurants.

We tried JR on our AOS cruise and thought they were fine. If I remember correctly, the burgers and fries were free after the $2 service charge, but we had to pay extra for our shakes.

Get rid of the black olives, mussels, and peas and it might be a good dish but still not as good as an old fashioned burger.

Hey, even I want a burger once in a while, but if given this as an option, I'd go with the seafood. This isn't offered every day like the burgers are. heck, it might not even be offered every cruise, but that is the joy...the surprise. You never know what's gonna wind up on that grill.

As for picking out stuff that was in the paella, I gave the calamari to mh dh...I was happy with the lobster, mussels, shrimp and scallops. :D Not a fan of octopus.

As much as I love a good old fashioned greasy burger, I also think the seafood would be a great option for lunch 1 day. I would give away the mussels (too musky for me), and keep the calamari. Now if they would add oysters o the half shell, YUM.:) But then oyster are never served on a cruise.:(

With the right seafood, I'f pick seafood over a hamburger as well. Shrimp, scallops, lobster, and fish(fried) and I'd be sitting in heaven! :D
