audobon_tx Posted November 12, 2013 Author #26 Share Posted November 12, 2013 There is zero logic in putting a piano in the casino bar area with a large screen TV. Separate the functions. Put the piano back in the Mosaic where it was and belongs! Restore the Mosaic to an attraction rather than a dead space at night. The vast majority of people with an opinion on this (your loyal customers, at least they were) agree with this tactic. Piano for after dinner, after show, people who want it into the late evening many nights. TV in the Club Luxe for people who want sports or whatever until the game is over. Mindlessness combining the two in one tiny space. Piano in Mosaic. TV as is where is. You are losing people over this. This is not revenue management, it is loss of market share management. Sanatee Posted November 12, 2013 #27 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Hi Robin, If I thought Miami would not listen to our comments, I wouldn't have posted. While I have no idea if they will consider the change, I strongly feel we should post our thoughts, so that Bill can share with Miami. Let's hope they will listen on this one, as it should be easy to accomodate, unless there's a reason we are unaware of. Hopefully, Bill can share some insights on this item. But Andy, people are expressing frustration because Miami doesn't listen and even Bill has been silent so far.

They never asked the guests what we wanted and it is in all my coment cards since it was moved. ALL!! Robin, I guess the strategy is to just ignore us and hope we will be distracted by other things, become fatigued, give up, move on, and keep booking. Bill Leiber has never provided ACC remarks on this subject - do you think he ever will? I booked my next cruise on Crystal, got to try something different. ACC is losing its former allure. It's not just the piano thing, it's the whole Edie thing.
Spursgirl Posted November 13, 2013 #30 Share Posted November 13, 2013 Flyingshoes, I am sure you will enjoy Crystal. Friends of mine love it. But isn't Edie CEO there now? And back to the subject of the piano, am surprised Bill hasn't explained ACC's position

Your (once) loyal cruiser, tvz Thank goodness there is so much more to Azamara for me than where they put the piano. I appreciate we all have differing views and you aren't happy, but I'm not sure where your evidence of "losing people" comes from. What do you mean the "Edie thing"? nordski Posted November 13, 2013 #35 Share Posted November 13, 2013 pps. spursgirl says Edie is gone to Crystal, if so that should be a positive for ACC. i note that Crystal cruisers are in open revolt on their board about recent policy changes and cost saving measures there. As you note, there certainly has been criticism of some of the recent changes on Crystal. But in fairness, most of those changes seem to have been announced prior to Edie's arrival. It will certainly be interesting how she makes her mark there. And whether that "open revolt" extends to deserting the cruise line remains to be seen. There can be much "sound and fury" on this board that dissipates rather quickly, witness the great excitement on the HAL forum about a month ago concerning the new wine policy. Now it seems largely accepted. Moreover, I put a positive spin on the absence of any official response to the concerns about the placement of the piano; that is, that they're reconsidering the issue. If they don't. I'll be disappointed but it's not a dealbreaker.

Burlington ON Posted November 13, 2013 #37 Share Posted November 13, 2013 Here's another vote to move the piano to Mosaic. Casinos are for noise, laughter (and tears!), football games and other spirited events. Pianos are to be enjoyed quietly. The two don't mix. Please move the piano out of the Casino. Sanatee Posted November 14, 2013 #38 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Bill Please comment, or pass on info, on the many posts concerned with the natural conflict between piano entertainment and TV broadcasts in the casino lounge on-board Az ships. Many suggest relocating piano to Mosaic or Discoveries. At the least, Az should consider muting TVs and using closed captioning if the piano and TV have to be co-located. Many folks are frustrated, and lack of communication from you or Az doesn't help. Thanks again for being the messenger.

Nitemare Posted November 14, 2013 #40 Share Posted November 14, 2013 it's obvious this is not up for discussion. I suggest the passengers get together, find 8 or 10 strong backed men, and move it themselves.
brucory Posted November 14, 2013 #41 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Just off the Quest - what a wonderful ship with delightful staff and crew… I had a quick chat to Max, the pianist. He thinks the piano will not be moving, (as in no chance), but has heard a lot of discourse about it…. My impression was that he would prefer to be in the Mosaic - though he did not want to speak out of turn... His music was beautiful - We enjoyed it several nights… :D:D:D

Bill Leiber Posted November 15, 2013 #43 Share Posted November 15, 2013 Hello Piano Movers to Mosaic Champions - I realize that I have not yet responded to your statement of dissatisfaction about our decision to move the piano from the Mosaic Cafe to the Casino Bar. I assure you that the executive team at Azamara is aware that there are passionate Azamara loyalists conveying their disagreement about that decision. I admire how protective you are about the total onboard Azamara experience and for having expressed your concern that this change presents to spoiling the onboard ambiance. I'm sorry for the delayed acknowledgment and now that they have received the newest thread report, "flyingshoe's" November 8, 2013, "Put the Piano Back Where it Belongs," I expect that my report summary and a request for an executive statement will be forthcoming. Until then, the comment cards submitted by current guests will play an important role in assessing the impact of guest dissatisfaction with not having the Piano in the Mosaic Cafe or having it placed in the Casino Bar. The message is on the executive team's radar screen. Sincerely, Bill Leiber ________________________ Chief Blogging Officer* Azamara Club Cruises (*CBO is an authorized and compensated representative of ACC)

Hopefully they can find a solution that works best for everyone....piano located where it can be enjoyed and where the performer doesn't have to compete with sports, casino noise, etc. And still give TV fans a place where they can enjoy sports, news, etc.
ellbon Posted November 15, 2013 #45 Share Posted November 15, 2013 FINALLY!!! some words of reason.. I have been on about 10 cruises where the piano is now and as much as I love max i ahted my time in there. I find more people walk by there than in the coffee bar- between the sports, uncomfortable furniture etc - not at all fun. i can only pray that it is moved back by Jan 5th for my winter on board. audobon_tx Posted November 15, 2013 Author #46 Share Posted November 15, 2013 Thanks, Bill. Restoring the pianist to the Mosaic restores the Mosaic to an attraction in the evening for one group of folks and gives the more boisterous crowd their venue in Club Luxe, without conflict to either group. It expands ACC's evening entertainment options to the benefit of ACC and its customers. I look forward to experiencing both venues as they should be configured on my November 26 Quest voyage. tvz
excitedofharpenden Posted November 15, 2013 #47 Share Posted November 15, 2013 Andy, you know as well as I do when Mia makes up its mind you can not change them. This has been an on going complaint for months. I love Max but did not see in there like I used too. Plus I was on the cruise with the stupid games ruining Max's show fro the evening. He should of been more to another venue or the game should have. FINALLY!!! some words of reason.. So in spite of what you said earlier it seems that, as I said before, they do listen and you aren't giving Azamara enough credit for making changes if the guests want it. Don't get on too much of a downer about Miami. Perhaps you aren't being fair to those at the front line who can make it happen;) Phil
