Couples Massage and brownies on Allure

So my BF and I will be on Allure of the Seas Dec. 1st. I am using this trip to sorta spoil him because this year has been sort of rough for him. He loves chocolate, so I was thinking about having some ordered for the room. Also, I wanted to get a couples massage for us.

I was wondering:

Has anyone had the brownies? Are they worth the price or should I just get some from the Windjammer? Also, has anyone had the massages in the spa? If so, was it relaxing. This is our 2nd cruise, but we have never used the spa on RC or Carnival. Thanks in advance.

My DH and I did the couples massage on Labadee a couple of weeks ago when we were on the FOS. I don't know if the pricing is the same on Allure, but on FOS it was $265 on the ship and $199 on Labadee for the couples massage. After reading about how nice it was on Labadee, I decided to do it off the ship. The massage is definitely relaxing and the scenery is very nice outlooking the water, but your tranquil mood is often broken by the clanging sound of the practice zipline that's nearby. After the massage, they just give you a few minutes to get dressed before they try to upsell you on their products. It was a soft sell though and it was fine after a polite no thank you. If I were to do it again, I would book it on the ship because of the zipline noise. We've never done a couples massage prior to this cruise. I know I've given you some limited info, but I hope it helps.

Have a fun time on your cruise!

I've had massages on multiple Royal ships. Generally they are good, but of course there will always be therapists that are better or worse than others. If they start a hard sell afterward trying to sell you on products, a polite "no thank you I'm not interested" will generally stop the sales pitch. (The more info you provide on the check-in questionnaire regarding your stress level, various physical ailments, the more ammo they have to try use in the sales pitch so I never give more than the basic info)

Anyway, having said all that, I have to say that one of the most disappointing massages I had was on Oasis. It seems that there is some sort of anchor room or some such thing directly adjacent to the treatment rooms. We had a couples massage on the Oasis inaugural and throughout the massage we periodically heard clanking on the side of the wall. It really altered the "relaxing" environment, and while the ship had only been in service a few days at that point, the therapists admitted that ours were far from the first comments they'd heard about the noise.

This helps because it gives me an alternative. The prices on Allure are the same, and I didn't know there were massages on Labadee. I am going to do some research and see which one I want to do. He might like the outdoor one, but I want to save time for the walking tour. So, I will see.

you'd be FAR better off( and way cheaper) getting him a massage on shore before you leave. see if there is a massage Envy or Healing Hands locally. waay cheaper and no hard sell. already relaxed before he even gets on board.

and the chocolate covered strawberries are better than the brownies...

I agree! My husband and I did this on Allure and we didn't find it relaxing at all, then they try to sell you stuff which ruins it completely. Never had the brownies, but we did chocolate covered strawberries and champagne at sailaway which was nice!

I've had the brownies that are delivered to the room and I enjoyed them so much, that I ordered them again for my next cruise. Just be aware that you will receive a large box with I think 6-8 large brownies inside.

I was wondering how many brownies we would get and if he would get chocolate overload :p

I would like the strawberries more, but he loves chocolate  That's not much my thing, but if I got him the strawberries, he would really appreciate it anyway. :) Hmmm, now I am thinking about strawberries and champagne.

It looks like the upsale is going to be the big annoyance. I am good at saying no nicely, but I think I will just do a massage at Massage Envy and do something else for us onboard. EEEEKKK! I just can't wait! lol I think I am going to start packing tonight!

It's really not a big deal. In my experience, sometimes they try, sometimes they don't. You can always say at the very start, "By the way, I'm not interested in buying any products for any reason, so please don't even try to sell anything to me afterward, ok?" They will almost certainly heed your request.

If the masseuse would feed me brownies while he massaged me, I would never leave the ship! :D OP, have your BF try the Sunflower seed granola bars at the Cafe Promenade, they are coated on the bottom with dark chocolate- heavenly! :)

LOL! I would be the same way. I will get him to try the granola bars. He is open to anything with chocolate on it.

May be a day late and a dollar short, but....

We've done the couples massage on board- and waited until we GOT onboard to book. Can save you some money that way. It was very relaxing, assuming you both do massages well. I don't, so it wasn't that great for me. nothing against the massuse- I'm just an odd one. Still, even with that, it was really nice to be there with my wife. Totally would do it again.

Yes, they try to sell stuff, but "no" is fine, and will stop the disucssion. They are trying to sell you the stuff they are rubbing you with- big deal.

Not sure about the brownies- but my SIL sent us the brownies. They were really good. So, assuming any chocolate is as good as the ones we had were- it was very nice.

have fun- spoil your BF. I'm sure he deserves it.

He does. He is a great one. Would love to have him as a hubby one day.
